The stress finally got to me. LOL! Ordered a Katech pump to replace my pump. Car has 2400 miles on it with a build date of 12/17. Engine and pump are still running perfect. Figured I would take care of this at my leisure rather than have a pump fail and possibly damage the motor. A longtime friend of mine that I can totally trust, who owns and runs a race shop will be doing the swap once all parts arrive. I thought about doing it myself but would rather have a pro involved. This might be a total waste or it might be a genius decision. The piece of mind for me is beyond worth it and I don't trust the dealer to treat the car the same as my close friend or I would. I understand it is under warranty for a while and it will be covered if the pump fails in that time period. Problem then is the question of did debris get into the motor? Is there going to be other issues do to the pump failure and low oil pressure? You just know it will fail at the most inopportune time as well. I figure if I change the pump now with a much stronger unit, this (in my mind) practically eliminates the possibility of the failure occurring. It also ensures my engine sees no related future issues and the car sees no chance of abuse or accidental damage from the dealer.

If I owned a 2017 /2018 LT4, I’d feel exactly the same way. So, I couldn’t agree any more, with all of your points. Clearly a genius decision

I especially like the fact your friend is doing the work, that’s key.

My car was produced only 4 weeks before the 19's went into production. I seriously doubt the those cars have a different pump. When did the pump change? Or did it?

Katech says there have been 6 upgrades to the pump, but none of them fixed the root problem (stated in my previous post above)

I know Katech has a vested interest in selling oil pumps, but I'm not sure why they would lie about this - if it's all true, my opinion of GM took another hit

Well they've done something as there's been no reported failures that i know of on 19+ that would raise any flags.

I’m sorry, I don’t have good / solid answer for you. And that’s the problem in a nutshell. There’s been a ton a pump revisions, opinions from people here and a competing pump vendor making unverifiable claims. I don’t disagree with the timing of your build / perhaps having the latest revision pump. I’m not certain anyone here really knows, and that sucks. We all have a lot invested in our cars…

I agree with that, I still have a little over 3 years with bumper to bumper protection but like you said who knows. Most of the failures seem to be 2017 builds which would still be 2018 cars and early 2018 builds for the most part but is that just because of the miles on older cars?

Doubt it, so many were failing with very low miles. Its almost 2022.

Just a quick update. Katech has their pumps back in stock. I received mine yesterday. The pump looks very well designed and put together from what I could see without taking it apart. No date set yet for the actual swap.

So now that i have verified the oil pump was replaced in March 2021, is there something i should be on the lookout? I've only put about 1k miles on the car. I would also assume they did an oil change and a coolant flush when they did the oil pump replacement?

I know this is the dry sump pump, but discusses some of the upgrades with the Katech

Has there been any failures/problems with Katech's LT4 wet sump oil pump ?

Sorry if this question has been answered previously.

The Katech pump just recently came to market so I lightly doubt there has been any failures.

new member, first post and what a post to respond too.
Count me as part of the group with a destroyed oil pump at 13K miles.
No problems whatsoever, brought in for an oil change and after the oil change the oil pressure was non existent......So for a week they tested and tested and finally determined the oil pump wasn't working.
Pull the engine and what do you know, the words they used was the "oil pump was destroyed in pieces."
