2020 LT1 and brochure questions
Went to see the LT1 my dealer just got in and liked the concept. However, my salesman was busy so I grabbed a brochure and left. Under the back section on performance I came across the following:
0-60 time for the automatic SS coupe is listed at 4.0 seconds. The LT! automatic is listed at 4.2 seconds. How do you account for that ? The quarter mile rating is SS coupe automatic is 12.3 @ 116 and the LT1 is listed at 12.3 @ 118 On the surface the LT1 is not as quick 0-60 ? Any explanation for the difference ? Thanks. |

The LT1 has skinnier, all season tires. The SS comes with summer tires that are wider in the rear.

Also a base LT1 is listed at 3,611 lbs, and a base 1SS is listed at 3,685 lbs. |

The LT1 comes with the winter setup. Luckily my 17" Dragstars and MT ET Streets will take care of traction problems. With Tires this is the faster car. But then it's not stock. So SSes might just rule the stock ET list. We shall see on a prepped track. Maybe GM removed the built in M6 bog.

The LT1 is a great idea for a street only V8 version of the Camaro or a good base for modding for a track car. However, there are things to keep in mind when picking between a SS or LT1. I've read the LT1 is limited to 155mph top end and it doesn't carry the track warranty so if you break it at the track it could come out of your own pocket. The LT1 doesn't have the additional cooling so it not really designed for heavy road racing. If you're going to mod it for track use then warranty really doesn't matter, It just comes down to what you plan to use it for. I looked at one at the dealer when I went by a few weeks ago.. I like the looks of the LT1 for sure. I think it was a smart move for GM.

Also, the LT1 does not have launch control. Not sure, but it seems like that might make a difference in the 0-60 times. However, in all practicality, two-tenths of a second is pretty small.

Launch control is fun on the street but not the plan on a prepped track.

Has that been confirmed? GM said the m6 LT1 cars would not have active rev match but I've seen a few vids that show they do.

That’s only what I’ve read in a few places. I can’t find anywhere on the Chevrolet website that says it has launch control. But, I haven’t actually confirmed by checking out one at a dealership. Maybe I’m wrong and someone on this forum with an LT1 can confirm it does or does not have launch control. I know it doesn’t have Track mode.

LT1 does not have track mode or launch control (unless it is hidden and undocumented)
LT1 does have rev match and no-lift shift |

Yea not to mention on an m6 car LC is very easy to beat with a good slip or low rpm dump if you know what you're doing.
