Noise is not normal at least compared to my 2017. Hope it’s not a lifter going bad. Hopefully it’s the fuel line check valve or something else. Good luck.

I’m going to pick up a stethoscope for sure. I think a bad lifter would produce a consistent knocking, right? It might be a lifter but who knows

I picked up a stethoscope and tested everything. It does sound like it’s coming from the fuel line. I messaged a another ZL1 owner with the same issue and he said his dealer replaced the fuel line. The car was good for a bit but then the noise returned. My guess is the new fuel line was defective or the issue is somewhere else. My dealer is going to check it out next week.

Are you sure it isn't coming from the clutch?

I never thought about that. The noise is coming from the top of the engine near the fuel line. I would be surprised if it was the clutch.

No clutch for me my is a 10-speed. If you do have a clutch you could probably step on it and the noise should go away. Is there a check valve on the fuel pump also or is it just on the line on the back of the motor? Dealer just order a new line. See how it goes the tech said the noise might even come back. Then they will look into more.

I was questioning this as well. Maybe there’s a check valve somewhere else in the line that is also bad. Did he give a reason as to why the noise would return?

No the service writer didn’t. I ask her if they were also a valve by the fuel pump and she didn’t know. I will ask to talk with the tech nexts time.

I would highly doubt that sound is coming from the fuel line... Sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint a high pitch squeak like you have... Have you tried engaging the clutch to see if the sound changes or goes away? Does the sound very with engine speed? I am surprised they didn't remove the belts and run it before replacing the SC... Would have known if it was accessory / SC related right away.

I have heard LS engines with bad lifters that sound like this...

The sound doesn't change when I engage the clutch. Also, it doesn't vary with speed. It becomes less noticeable after the car warms up, but it's still there. My dealer doesn't want to swap things out until they know exactly what the problem is. They have been in contact with GM's engineers. Hopefully, the dealer that Speedylt4 brought his car to can figure something out and document it with GM. When is the car going in for the fuel line replacement?

They replaced the line yesterday and no rattling/marble sound today. Hope it doesn’t come back. The noise is back lol My buddy has 4 Zl1 on his lot and they all sounds like my, so I guess it normal.
