From what some of the top shops on here say, 1 7/8 are good to 650 rwhp . After that the 2” primaries will benefit you more.

So, Bo White has said that he gained 18rwhp when he went from a 2.5 - 3" exhaust setup and that he was at around 600 rwhp. He also said that any car with a power adder can benefit from the 2" headers, so take that for what you will...

I have 2" headers into 3" catless exhaust. Not sure if I'm gaining much over the 1 7/8" headers or need them around 500rwhp. In my bias opinion the sound is better with the 2" though.

I remember someone did a test and picked up 25 or 30hp going from 1-7/8" to 2" at the 850-ish rwhp level.

If you make the jump to 2” do you need to get another tune?

Sorry to summon Bo White again...but...I asked that exact question and he said it was advised.

I don't recall having picked up 25 rwhp going from 1 7/8" to 2" headers, but the 2" made more power from 2,500-3,000k to peak in a cammed, FI application. You can usually pick up that much or more going from the stock 2.5" H-pipe to a 3" X-pipe at 600rwhp plus. Also note that not all headers make the same power. Some are indeed better than others and why go through the trouble if your not going to optimize the combination via a proper tune?

It was one example (on Camaro6, I think) where the car went from something like 830rwhp to 860rwhp peak.

I've had Kooks on a lot of my past cars and plan on going Kooks 2in on my ZL1. I know they are usually the more expensive option. But they have always had perfect fit, finish and looked new after a couple of years. I believe the only tuned length headers for our cars in 2in primaries are ARH. But don't quote me on that. I don't honestly know or have proof if theres a significant power difference though.

After installation of your headers, is there a way to keep the belly pan on?
