I haven't figured a way to report a speed trap while safely driving the car.

I’m the same... I reserve this task for passengers only. Equally unsafe? Explaining to my wife how to get this done without a resulting dog fight lol.

It may also be about the chance that AC ripple on top of the tender's DC output could be interpreted as unwanted 'ones' and 'zeros'. I saw an article about this within the last week or so. Not nav specifically, but I would assume that the same cautions apply.

That would reek of such incredible incompetence it's not even funny. No input voltage regulation issues should have any bearing on signal (data) integrity. My curiosity is piqued, do you have a link to the article?

https://www.import-car.com/reflashin...ering-service/

It mentions both the voltage and waveform considerations.

The fact that this was specifically for an EPAS update mostly means that there would be periods of very heavy current draw that could cause voltage to drop below requirements.

Thanks for sharing this, Norm. The article discusses Audi EPAS reprogramming and specifically advises against using fixed capacity jump packs, not battery maintainers, mostly because the EPAS use case, as they say, may require 70-100 amps from an external power supply (which would be insane for a Camaro infotainment upgrade).

Now I'm not an electrical engineer, but I'd think the output side behavior of a quality trickle charger is close enough to that of the alternator in our cars that it could be used instead. The problem is an interesting one and I readily admit it's a bit more complex than I had originally thought.

Set a nav destination and turn-by-turn instructions will show up on the HUD. You may need to switch the HUD display mode with the center button that says INFO.

I would roll with Apple Auto or Android CarPlay... they're much better and always up to date.

Orange circle, cop, cop, done.

It's gotten to the point I don't even look down after I hit the orange circle. And I've only put 1300 miles on the car. It's a Texas suburb so cops are bored here.

I haven't upgraded the maps in my 2017 SS but have upgraded our 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe which gives free map and NAV system upgrades for 3 years. It's a download from the myhyundai app. Does the GM upgrade only update the maps or does it also update the NAV system?

It's only a map database update. Infotainment upgrades, if any, are made available at the dealership (2016-2018) or as OTA updates (2019+).
