New base plates needed to swap 16-18 and 19+ taillights?

I am planning on swapping the 16-18 taillights onto a 19+ vehicle and am not sure if I also need the 16-18 base plates for the lights. I think the opposite swap is more common, so maybe someone who has made that swap can weigh in on the following question:

The black base plate that the taillight slides into has different part numbers for the 16-18 and 19+ models. Is the corresponding base plate needed to swap the taillights?

I have not seen the 19+ base plate and am thinking maybe the different base plates change how high or low the taillights sit...

I thought the bumper was different. I didn't think you could swap onto the 19 due to the lower bump up between the round parts.

Correct, and that part I already have covered with a 16-18 SS bumper cover (see below), but I was hoping someone might have some practical advice on the base plate pieces before I take everything apart.

This is the other way around, OP wants to fit and use the 16-18 taillights on a post-refresh Camaro.
