I've used Super Clean foam with some success on some really bad wheels, but not sure how it would fair against something baked on. I've also used Citrol 266 to remove tar. Just some alternatives to try.

WhiteMale, yup, I have detailing brushes...used a toothbrush...and took a microfiber to it as well. Also took a plastic scraper. These wheel cleaners are NOT going to do the trick - I need something intense.
Did you see the purple chemical reaction happen? It could take 3-4 applications to get everything. Also use plastic scraper tools.

I already gave you the answer but you didn’t want to hear it......IRONX PASTE. The only reason it exists is to tackle baked in contamination that the liquid iron removers and wheel cleaners don’t remove.

I have removed brake dust with a clay bar.

UPDATE:Finally warm enough here in Georgia. Per Nintres suggestion, I bought IronX paste and left it on for 10 minutes. It DOES come off. Takes an A$$ton of elbow grease and multiple applications, but its making a dent! Thank you. I'm going to buy a the larger container, take the wheels off, and spend a day cleaning.

What plastic scrapers do you guys recommend to get into the little cavernous areas of the wheels?
