1ss vs 2ss

Configuring a 1SS vs a 2SS:

The biggest difference I see between the 2 with the options I wanted was
- no footwell lighting available on a 1ss
- Radio is "standard" radio vs premium in a 2 ss
- cloth in 1ss vs leather in a 2ss

The difference is over $7k for a 2SS. What am I not seeing that is worth so much more in a 2SS vs a 1SS?

The Camaro 2SS comes with the heads-up colour digital readouts for the vehicle’s speed, selected gear g-force, audio system, high beam indicators, the compass, outside air temperature, the turn signal, the tachometer, vehicle messages, turn-by-turn information and phone messages along with aluminium caps at door trims with the shifter caps and interior spectrum lighting with a choice of 24 colours. The illumination is trimmed on the radio and above the cup holder.

The mirror in the rearview has auto-dimming and is frameless, which gives it a stylish look; there are heated seats for driver and passenger as well as ventilated seats for driver and passenger, seal plates that illuminate the Camaro logo when the user opens the door irrespective of the side of the vehicle, a heated steering wheel with a universal home remote that includes garage door opener and three-channel programming, wireless charging for the user’s devices.

Moreover, on the exterior, the users get outside heated power-adjustable, driver-side auto-dimming body-colour mirrors, rear park assist, rear crossing traffic alert, the side blind zone alert, and the lane change alert.

The memory package recalls two drivers’ presets, eight-way power driver seats, and outside mirrors, which means the user gets an 8-way power seat on both sides.

Bose radio and rearview mirror camera was the 2 main things I wanted in the 2SS.

2SS also has dual zone climate controls which has not yet been mentioned.

Wireless charging is worthless. Pad is so small you would have to still have an iPhone 6 for it to fit and if you take a corner it slides off PLUS it won't charge through my case.

Just my 2 cents...

Every time a question about 2SS amenities comes up, someone is quick to jump in and call the wireless charging pad useless... which is not exactly true.

First, 2019+ cars have an upgraded charging module that can handle new phones (I upgraded my 2018 to it), and while the pad is awkwardly shaped and indeed not large enough, one can trim the short ends, see below. This allows the use of even a Samsung Galaxy S23. Those gigantic Ultras and whatnot will not fit, but calling the entire feature "useless" is nonsensical.

Second, the rubber pad against my rubber phone case works extremely well, the phone stays put even at 1g lateral acceleration.

Third, nothing beats being able to slap the phone on the pad and enjoying cable free wireless Android Auto, knowing the phone will never die, because the new module's charging rate exceeds the combined usage from AA apps, wifi and bluetooth. To me, this alone makes the feature worth it.

How does this answer my curiosity?

The ventilated seats don’t have a ton of airflow, but they’re a lot better than no ventilation.

Well, I thought the reason you said you didn't have it is that it didn't work for you for some reason, because the 2SS comes with wireless charging from the factory. So you have a 2SS that somehow has the small cubby at the back end of the center console, and not the wireless charging pad? What model year is your car, is it a 2020 perhaps?

Yes, 2020. If that’s the reason, thanks. I’ve been reading and I couldn’t nail it down.
