Do you have a link for the airbox mod video?

So I was bored tonight and decided to go ahead with the airbox mod. I cut the bottom and side as one piece so I can always glue it back on if it runs bad. I’ll know Saturday when I have a chance to take it for a test drive.

Let us know how it works out for you. I ran with no filter at all in a 2016 v6 manual car and it ran fine for the complete day to and from the drag strip. Before that I opened up the front mouth of the air filter box where it pulls are from the grille area, no issues at all.

Wow that's pretty extreme! I think maybe you lost some of the ram air affect by removing the input duct. Unfortunately for me it won't be on the dyno again till next Spring so I'll have to wait to see if there's any difference good or bad. It'll be easy enough for me to glue the piece back in if needed.

there is no ram air effect with the stock style air boxes. the power loss was the maf. once rescaled, it was fine.

Did you recover the lost 8mph after the maf rescaling?

For the money the JLT CAI is hard to beat.
It's like the Rotofab big gulp with it being 5" but almost half the price.
Some nice gains I have seen. Wish I had went that route.

The JLT is an open top which is what I'm trying to avoid due to it marking up my airbrushed hoodliner. So far I'm into it for $185 including an Airaid elbow (I'll be installing tonight), a Green filter, and opening up the bottom. I sold my open top carbon fiber AFE cai so I'm ahead for the money. The key question is how all these changes are going to affect performance good or bad. We shall see!
