Callaway Sucks

I think we found the problem. It says "Callaway" on the side.

So...you bought cheap used parts (parts that are not sold on the open market as a kit btw) you are not a Callaway customer, and insult them bc you had problems. That’s a special kind of stupid.

i didnt know callaway made super chargers. I thought they just put aftermarket parts on cars and charged triple what any other shop would because people think they still have a GM warranty. because the dealer had it shipped to Callaway. When in reality its just the crap warranty you can buy from the supercharger manufacturer if installed by any authorized dealer.

Callaway Supercharger design with their triple intercooler bricks is proprietary to them and patented. You do have a GM warranty with their system and their system is serviced by any GM service department if there is a issue. I know how the warranty works first hand as I have had an issue with their system. You should go on Callaway's website and read about their supercharger design and warranty.

Over $18k for 100 crank horsepower is a bit of a rip off to me. That's just my opinion.

I've met Reeves he's an !#$!@#! Rich father! Ely Callaway sold a vineyard and all of his children started businesses after the sale. Then Ely became know for Callaway Golf Clubs.

Callaway Cars has been ripping people off for years! I had a '87 Callaway vette. 22 turbos failed, replaced the savage pump and new motor. Worst car I ever owned. They show up for magazines with modified cars, nothing you can actually buy. Everything beats them at the track. That's why you never see any at track events. If you own a Callaway just let it set in your garage and brag about stats from Callaway.

Wow, 18k for 100hp?!

Yea, You can add 100hp for 5k tuned and use the rest of the 13k for insurance or do wheels and tires and some cosmetic stuff, maybe even a sound system and still probably have 5k left over.

I don't support the over priced tuning companies like Callaway, Hennessey, Lingenfelter, etc.. like most people here but what did you really expect considering you bought the parts second hand in the first place? And I understand why most people scoff at the sight of the "Made in China" sticker but we just kinda have to live with that unless you want to pay WAY more for US made parts. FYI a large portion of the parts on that car from the factory are made in China including those stock wheels that so many people are dying to get there hands on...

My Callaway ZL1 1LE is a dedicated track car and does not sit in the garage by any means.

As for its ability on the track, it will walk away from just about anything on the straights even a GT3RS. Only time I get passed on the straights is by Porsche Cup cars.

Even with my very limited track experience of only 14 days in one year, beginning as a neophyte last October, I am already running a 2:21 at Sebring and that is on the stock tires. This car definitely has a 2:17 (and possibly even lower) in it. I'm not sure I am the driver to do it. Al least not yet!

Sorry you had all the troubles with your 1987. However, that was 32 years ago and Callaway has come a long way since then.

Not sure they've came that far. Know someone who tried to road race a Callaway C6. Every time I saw him at the track he'd just fixed something.

At the time I had a Z06 that was stock. I was passing him in the straights and pushing him in the corners. The last comment he made was "I should have purchased a Z06". And he was an instructor for NASA HPDE.

Google "callaway c7 problems".

There is a video on youtube from CSP I think with a 2019 Callaway Denali. Customer bought it and it ran BADLY! He put it on the dyno and had to retune it. Finally got it running well. I think they are just a glorified shop. They use all the same parts any shop uses. Only advantage is the warranty through the Dealer. Technically its not through the dealer there submit warranty claims to Calloway and they pay for labor and parts. Similar to ford performance. You can take czars with ford performance parts to ford dealers but the warranty is at that point in the hands of FP.

Value of the warranty cannot be overstated even for 100 BHP, if you track your ZL1 and and have tuned it, added a Wipple or even just a catch can and then your oil pump fails or your "tune by the best tuner" results in detonation that fries a piston, you will be out of pocket for a new LT4. The bill you get for this will be well over $18,000. Just my $.02. This kind of thing happens frequently for people who track cars hard.

100 BHP and full warranty coverage for all parts like a GM warranty (ie. includes the f-ing oil pump and is CA CARB LEGAL, Lingenfelter or Hennessey only covers their parts), seems like a good deal to me.

Personally, I wont enjoy driving a modded beast on a 100 degree track day if I'm praying the whole time that the oil pump, HG, etc doesnt fail. Not a fun experience.

I have two Callaway cars. This Camaro and a C7 Callaway ZO6/Z07. So I have first hand experience with a C7 from Callaway.

You can google "no problem" and find a problem....

They have come a long way from even the C6 to C7 generation. I would of taken a C6 Z06 over a C6 Callaway for a track car back then as well. Big difference with the C7 generation.
