Yeah... Us midsize owners would welcome that engine with open arms. I mean, I love the 3.6 V6, but if your gonna give me 320 HP and nearly 350tq in a Colorado or Canyon, bring it on. I can't see them not using this engine in the midsize trucks eventually... Then again... It makes too much sense, so probably not.

Now back to the subject here. So my first impression is that I thought they looked decent. I'd have liked to see maybe a bit more aggression in the look, but whatever. Then I read the power estimates. This is just wrong. It's a friggin V. It's supposed to make the masses tremble in fear. I'm sure there cars are fun to drive and get moving pretty good, but a V they are not. More naming confusion BS from GM. If they thought the V Sport was a confusing name and to close to V, them they should have just gave them a different naming scheme... Not crapped on what a V has always represented. I don't care if there are higher performance models coming.

Now, I wonder if the next gen Camaro will be more the size of ct4 or ct5. If guess 5.

Other than labeling them with a "V", I truly do not see a problem with these two. They will compete with the lesser BMW M cars (M-Sports), the lesser Benz AMG's and the Audi S-Line. If GM prices them right, it will allow more people to experience Cadillac performance without having to empty their wallets on the future V+ models (or whatever GM will call them).

GM, you already screwed the pooch on pricing with the 6th Gen Camaro (the abysmal sales don't lie). Price these "lesser-V's" right, in order to bring in new and younger customers!

I slept on it. I read some stuff from other sites. I get what they're doing now.

That being said, I know it's not like GM to do this, but I think the kneejerk reactions could have been avoided entirely if they had either shown or at least teased the Blackwing cars or whatever we're calling the high performance models in greater detail. Most of the Internet right now just sees these as the outright ATS-V/CTS-V replacements rather than the start of a new line of performance cars from Cadillac.

I get what they are doing but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. They are responding to the people that want a V series badge but they don’t want any of the compromises made for the badge. They are basically watering it down for people that would probably put a V badge on a base model just to look cool.

Your quotes above say the CT4-V has a 89" wheelbase. The current Camaro has a 110" wheelbase. I can't see the Camaro wheelbase shrinking that much, but I'm no expert. The CT5-V wheelbase is closer, but the CT4-V has a closer overall length to the current Camaro, which I find to be strange since it's wheelbase is so much shorter. 6th gen Camaro is right sized as far as I'm concerned (of course, any more interior space is welcomed lol). If they can make the 7th gen a hair bigger and keep the weight down, then I don't think I'd have an issue with it.

These cars, while less powerful, are Cadillacs. They are going to cost more than an SS Camaro, so there is no way these cars are going to attract would be Camaro buyers in terms of pricing.

Those that want a cheap V8, now can get one, with the Camaro LT1 package.

I agree it's dumb, but this isn't a precedent started by Cadillac. Mercedes has been slapping AMG badges on anything sporty for a few years now. Same with BMW and the M badge.

Unfortunately the luxury world is a lot of monkey see monkey do, for better or worse.

I guess i'll reserve judgement until (if?) the true V cars show up. I do like the styling of both. There has to be Blackwing variants coming, right?

There are. Mark Reuss was hounded with questions after the reveal yesterday and he confirmed there's more on the way, then supposedly asked journalists what they thought about the name "Blackwing."
