The bill you get for this will be well over $18,000. Just my $.02. This kind of thing happens frequently for people who track cars hard.

100 BHP and full warranty coverage for all parts like a GM warranty (ie. includes the f-ing oil pump and is CA CARB LEGAL, Lingenfelter or Hennessey only covers their parts), seems like a good deal to me.

Personally, I wont enjoy driving a modded beast on a 100 degree track day if I'm praying the whole time that the oil pump, HG, etc doesnt fail. Not a fun experience.
This one gets it....

I'm looking forward to driving down to the Callaway facility in Temecula to see the place in person and discuss things with them.

I doubt I'll pull the trigger on this for a couple of years, but "walking away" from GT3 RSs would be nice, we have a lot of those at ACS in Fontana CA.

I know it wont happen, but can't help wondering if I secretly slip the techs at Callaway an extra $1-2Gs, maybe they'll dial it up to 800 BHP :-) Or maybe in 2 years 800 BHP is the new package rating and a GT4.R wing and trick suspension tweaks (eg. rear height adjustment) are additional options.

Wow! For someone to go thru 22 turbos...they are not a very quicker learner or doesn’t know anything about turbocharged cars. Take your pick.

Based on the brick failure that RSFR experienced and his interactions with Callaway one can question if they could do more to help, but I hope he wasn't looking for them to cover the part under warranty. Other shops that sell similar bricks have similar prices on the same parts. Callaway provides something that is unique and that is that you can keep your warranty - regardless of who pays. I wish that other shops were able to partner with a warranty company to offer the same at a lower cost.

Regardless, I would use my $18K in a different way. $8K on mods that will yield over 150HP easily, and $10K in a - oh crap - fund in case of engine catastrophe.

Or they are running the turbos that Precision was sourcing from Mexico. Those things were garbage!

Or....if you did some research on the 87 Callaway you would see that they are running IHIs which are still available today. In 88 they went to Rotomaster, which was acquired years later.

Buys a used second hand setup from unknown source. Installs it. Part breaks. Asks Callaway to replace it for free. Gets mad that Callaway will not honor a warranty that does not exist anymore and that they no longer have any obligations towards. Refuses to pay $600 for a new part but instead opts to weld it back together.

Anyone else see a trend here.

You went the cheap route, shit did not work out for you, and now you either want someone to blame and take responsibility for it and give you free shit or you'll just cheap out yet again and hack your way which will ultimately cause another failure which you'll then blame on someone else...

Do things the right way the first time. If you want to save money by purchasing used stuff, then you know for a fact that you're on your own if something goes wrong. Callaway owes you nothing. In fact, I'm laughing that these guys even bothered Callaway with this bullshit in the first place. Were they really expecting to get free stuff? For all any of us knows, these guys could have screwed that brick up themselves and are just trying to roast Callaway for not helping them out. What a crock of shit.
