Yeah, ok. I'll spend $17,000+- to TT + supporting mods to a v6 and get a 10 second car out of it. And that's if you do all the installation work yourself. Double that if you have a dependable shop do it.

Yeah. No.

I know there have been a few v6 owners that have done such but they've essentially spent at least time and half (closer to double time) of their car's brand new worth to get it, so, at a low end 1LS bought new for let's say, for the sake of argument, $20K to drive off the showroom, get all them go fast mods, you're up to $37K for a 10second car. That's for a 4.5 second improvement. Quick google search shows a 1ss sold for $33K in 2015 and it's already a high 12 second car. Dump that same amount into that v8 and you'd likely have an 8 second car. I doubt you'd actually have to spend as much on the v8 to get it to 8 seconds.

A v6 can and does put out over 700HP but it takes, if not tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of dollars and twice the revs of Camaro V6s, of any generation, to get it there. See Formula 1 and Indycar ICEs.

It's always been a pointless comparison and anyone making it, particularly on the internet, is exhibiting gross trollish behavior.

My v6 still looks great, sitting still or going down the road and it goes as fast as my 98HP 500lb bike. The bike might be a little faster in the quarter, but I think it would be a close thing, especially if .5 seconds is considered a close race. Providing I could keep it from flipping over and trying to kill me anyway. Either way, it's another pointless comparison.

My 323 hp '14 2LT 6 spd auto tranny vert feels just as quick as my 285 hp '97 Z/28 4 spd auto tranny vert and has a much higher top speed stock (155 governed v. about 115 governed since I did not have the upgraded tire package).
If the manual 5th gen wont beat the auto 5th gen....what makes you think an auto 6th gen v6 hangs with a the l99.

Road and Track (2011) 1/4 mile times:

LS3 Coupe-13.0
LS3 Convertible-13.1
L99 Coupe-13.3
L99 Convertible-13.4

And here is the Camaro5 Fast List: Stock LS3's are consistently .2 seconds faster than stock L99's in the 1/4

A 6th Gen V6 would stand no chance against a M6 or A6 5th Gen SS. Unless it was a really good driver in the V6 against a terrible driver in the SS. It just is not gonna happen. Now maybe if it was a V6 1LE up against a L99 SS on a road course or in the twisties then that would be different. But that is all I'll give it. No way. No how.

When people start making these ridiculous statements is when you should challenge them for pinks...

Those who live by the fast list without being on it...usually die by the same list when they cant post the same times in their cars. Remember most of those guys on this and any other fast list are hard core racers. Joe average is not getting those times. Realworld is alot different then quoting other peoples times as the norm.

About .5 seconds 0-60 between the two I think is what they are saying if I remember. Any V8 guys get a chance to run one yet? Thoughts?

I think .5 second 0 to 60 sounds just right.

https://www.0-60specs.com/chevrolet-camaro-0-60-times/

Not shot on you guys as your Camaros are all awesome. there's just been some weight loss between generations. and there's no doubt that the 5th gen SS is faster.

And Ron you got to give me your number so I can text you. I found a 5th gen mint Camaro in Toronto with 3,000 original kilometers on it an auto SS just like you like might be something you'd be interested.

It's on AutoTrader it's very nice

Forgot to say it's a 2015
