key wont turn off or come out

Hey everyone! My Camaro REV is a 2015 2SS commemorative edition.
but I've been having problems with my key in the ignition. so basically I cant turn the key to the all the way off position, and it wont let me pull the key out. i have to turn it back on then put the shifter to drive, then park and the key will then twist all the way and then it pulls out.
i know its a common problem in the gen 5s. but i tried googling it and only can find some of the problem.
what can i do about this? its driving me nuts. thanks in advance!

I’ve had my shifter replaced once under warranty for this problem and it has started happening again. There are several potential workarounds and fixes, but I thought this was the best explanation and potential fix for the issue:

For now, I’ve been doing the following if the key gets stuck:

1) Turn key back to “on” position (don’t need to start the car)
2) Place foot on brake (car can stay in Park)
3) Squeeze the silver shift release button at the top of the shifter several times rapidly
4) Key should be able to be released at this point

If this ever stops working, I will probably try the procedure in the video.
