Would you take your Z28 to the dealer for an oil change?
Curious to see what you guys think?

I've always taken mine there and its been fine. They are very careful with it while performing the oil change. I pull it in and out of the service bay myself and they let me stay in the car or come underneath it to watch. No one else drives it.
My car still has an active GM extended warranty so if they F it up, they will be fixing it! My car has had no issues yet either so its not needed any additional servicing. |

Thanks - I wanted to take my Z28 to a dealer for an oil change and differential fluid change here in Houston but I do not know which dealer to pick.
They quoted me $190 for differential fluid change! |

That’s because the lube they’re going to use on you cost 175.00

I won't let anyone else touch my Z/28 as long as I'm physically capable of doing the maintenance myself. Easy to change the oil, even easier to change the diff. I know there are exceptions (as mentioned above) and some very good techs out there but usually the "lube tech" at the dealership is the newest, least experienced employee. Recipe for disaster. Maybe if you know the tech personally it would be worth the risk. Maybe.

Also why in the world a diff fluid change is $190?!? I mean it’s even easier than an oil change |

Can someone please point me to a link, document or thread for "how to change oil and diff fluid"? The search on this forum isn't the greatest. I'm a brand new owner and I would like to do it myself. I used to do it in my younger days but been a long time.

The search function here does leave a lot to be desired. Try doing a Google search: 2015 z28 oil change. That got me to a few Camaro5 threads. Not a big deal on our cars. Remove the belly pan. There are TWO drain plugs. Change filter. Fill through oil tank not valve cover. 10 qts of Mobil 5w-30.
Diff change is a simple drain and refill. 1 qt of AC Delco 88900401 Synthetic 75w-90. Keep in mind this fluid does NOT have the limited slip additive as this is not needed in our Torsen diffs. Note that you may get an occasional clunk or thump out of the rear without the LS additive but this is normal.

I’ve always taken mine to the local dealer also with no issues. I used to work there so I have a level of trust and know the specific technicians that deal with my Z.
I do have a quick question…how often would you recommend changing the diff fluid? |

20 plus years as a Chevy tech and got out 15 years ago, and have done my own since because a good tech was hard to find even back then! Today no way in hell with the work ethic in most even way lower, I have even did my own warranty work and payed for it just because of the same reasons so as you can tell Im very untrustworthy with what I have seen over the years. Find a good tech you better well take good care of him!
But, the ole saying goes tho if you want something done right do it yourself! |

From what I've read in past posts it's important to change your Zs diff ASAP for the first time. I changed mine at about 4K and there was a bit of sludge and metal on the drain plug. Per the owners man you're supposed to change it after the first track day and then every 24 hours of track time. The 45K "normal use" interval seems a bit long to me for our exotic creatures, I'd say every 10K or 5 years just to be safe.
