2017 Camaro SS 1LE on Yas Marina Circuit videos!
Hey all,
I have not done too many posts, but quite frankly my job keeps me busy so I just troll a lot. I am in the military and stationed in Abu Dhabi and I brought my 2017 Garnet Red SS 1LE with me. I knew it would wind up on the Yas Marina Track and the car did not disappoint. I beat up on an ATS-V, CTS-v, Carerra S, and Carerra GT4. I also kept up with a ZR1 in the corners. I left it in "Sport 1" since this was the first time I have ever been on a track. Not to mention I was one of MANY cars on the track. We had about 20-25 cars on the track at the same time in the novice class. In the last session a McLaren 720S was out as well. In the Intermediate groups there were a slew or Porsche 911 GT3's, several Ferarri's, Lamborgini's, GTR's, Tube chassis race cars, and Lotus' among others. They were all on the track at the same time. This is the UAE after all. This car made me look like a super star bone stock. If I had any issues on the Yas Marina Full circuit (about 5.6 km), the brake fluid boiled and left me without a pedal in one corner and the tires got a little greasy. I had a spongy brake pedal most of the time but when I stood on it it stopped like a champ. Most of the straights you I got close to 100 mph. On the back straight I hit between 136-140 mph. All the straights wind up in a hard right or left hand turn. I wound up melting the front tires (rubber piled up on the circumference grooves in long strings). The only places I struggled was on the straights. Anything with a supercharger or turbo walked away from me on the straights but the Camaro was a corner champ. The next phase is swapping the brake fluid for some Motul 660 brake fluid and Motive brake bleeder to rid the car of that problem. I am not sure the tires are up to the task of this track. They lost quite a bit of tread depth in that one night (Three 20 min sessions). The brake pads seem ok. Had some bluing of the rotors but my research says that is alright. Any constructive criticism or suggestions to improve the car or my driving? Here are the videos: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3QD7F1cX_eT6CMkDni6Zpg |

1LE at Yas Marina! This is pretty cool man! Good for you!
Your videos look good as well, at first I thought you keep the car too low in the RPM range in the corners, but then I saw you are in 2nd...the gearing is so tall in this car... Awesome experience! |

Well, I’ll never get to run mine around that circuit. Cool man! Just wish you had the track page up for your PDR rather than for acceleration (drag strip). However, if I recall correctly I think the data is still there. I need to reread about it. Thanks for sharing
