sorry, thanks for dropping in, but im an experienced hot rodder ready for big boosted torque and have the resources for a project like this. it has 30 miles on it and i dont intend on putting any more on it until the engine has been worked over. I am interested in a recipe that provides for 850 or more ft-lbs. I will not be boring and stroking.

Go big or go home!

IMO, fueling is the biggest challenge to manage on big-HP 6th gen Camaros.
  1. Select a LONG term power target. 1000 is good
  2. Select the fuel system to get it there. If you want 1000hp now, but will want 1200 in a year or two, don't bother with the 1000hp fuel system. You may be able to just swap injectors from +30% to +45/60% but IMO for the $ you're better off just going big now and using the rest of it later.
  3. Chose a preferred method of boost. A 2650 Maggie sounds right up your alley.
  4. Build the rest around it to get it there.

Glad to see you're starting off right by upgrading the internals.

Yep be prepared to spend a lot of money on the fuel system or run a lot of meth just to get to that 1000. Chevy didn't do us any favors with this fuel system. And as far as power adder id look at the new Huron Speed turbo kit or a Maggie 2650.

I saw that RPM recently built a 6th gen 1le making over 1000rwhp. I think it was procharged but there's probably something you take note off of there. There's YouTube videos on the build and I think there was a thread on it here.

I saw a cool TV series about a company called Trans Am WorldWide that is making hot rods based on the 6th gen camaros. Looks like very high dollar builds - must be $75K and up. Anyway they have a superduty 455 that makes 1000hp based on the LT1.
They went through some of the engine development on the show - I suggest trying to find it on demand if you can. Maybe scope out the engine builder they used - I don't recall who it was off the top of my head, but a pretty serious shop. I am assuming this is a project you would partner with an engine builder, not be doing in your garage right?

http://transamdepot.com/superduty/

I believe I have seen Katech come up for this type of project - either on this show or one of the hot rod builder shows - maybe contact them.

And in both cases the company used a very experienced tuner to tune and dial in the motor on a chassis dyno - so I make sure you find the right resource for that as well. I have a very good guy for LS motors based in NC that includes big boost - but not sure he deals in the LT market yet - I can check if that is of interest - PM me. He probably knows who to go to if he doesn't do it - small world there.

https://katechengines.com/engines/

Wherever the TA guys used - I remember they had to fly there to check progress on the engine and then had it transported to their shop which looks like is in FL.

I seriously doubt anybody here on this forum has personal experience building this type of engine based on a LT1 btw. But - we would all love to see your progress so keep us posted please!

I would get with Katech for an LT engine build since they work close with GM on the Corvette race teams engines and probably have more experience building the LT1 and LT4 engines! The other company in NC is owned by an ex NASCAR driver/owner that works on Dodge engines too and if I recall the engine they built for the Super Duty TA cost 25,000 to 30,000! After all we are talking about a custom built TA that costs at least $150,000 or more!

Joey Arrington did the engine build for the Super Duty TA and his shop is in Concord NC. They build race engines and special builds for companies like Trans Am Depot.

My suggestion is if you are looking for that kind of power is to add some long tube headers, add some Flowmaster axle back muffs, add a brand name CAI intake filter. I think that will get you there.

I would also personally sell the factory motor or pull it and store it.
It’s worth $6K easily and you won’t use much except the block. Maybe the heads.
