Nothing goes like turbo AWD with this method, it's basically storing energy like a flywheel and letting it drop with way more traction than your 2WD will have and if done right, it's on boost at the same time. Oh, you may beat him to 60, but turbo AWD cars have made more than one rear wheel drive V8 monster look a bit ridiculous as they stomp on the brakes once they've gotten their "pass" in, possibly to the speed limit. Then the RWD V8 monster is shooting ahead and goes past the cops, then gets pulled over.

The turbo AWD cars will always loose more as the speeds increase due to all the drivetrain drag, so to make the same 1/4 mile times they need way more HP than the same RWD cars, but if they are running enough boost and HP, they'll both clean you from a dig and all the way down the strip. Typically, they need rather larger turbos to accomplish this, ones that have big wheels and relatively high thresholds.
Yeah, the fusion only comes with an automatic and there is no launch mode. Unless you do neutral drops, you can't get it into the boost off the line. It gets beat.

Even that is a no go. It uses an electronic dial shifter with a noticeable delay in engagement from what I've read.

In the FXT with the terrible 4EAT you could hold the brake down and rev the thing up somewhat to get somewhat in the boost range, two foot launch. I don't know if the Fusion has some sort of mode for launching, sometimes these cars do, or better put, more and more they do.

Yes, but post #22 is given with simple and rational data. Post #28 implies that if you drive the AWD turbo car like a moron with no regard for mechanical parts it may actually be faster for a short distance. The following posts debunk that theory showing it is basically impossible to neutral drop the car while in boost because the engineers prevented this. So post #22 does in fact stand.
