ZL1 1LE
New to the MB and have some questions...
I would like to place a down payment on a 1LE 1. Does anyone know how many cars will be produced in total? 2. Possibly 750 / year, how many years? 3. Is there any future increase or a slower decrease in value of the ZL1 1LE (the 547 GNX Buicks made are now 100K+)? 4. Will minor modifications hurt the value of this car? (headers, exhaust, pulley...)? Any suggested mods or a list would be appreciated. 5. Do you think there will be a niche for an easy resale of this car (I hope it won't crash in price within a year)? 6....any other discussions to assist in purchasing or not purchasing would be greatly appreciated. I know we don't have a crystal ball, just wanted to know your thoughts.... |

It sounds like you are buying it as an investment. (Enjoy it for a few days a month, keep it real clean, look at it every night, wait for about 20 years with a hope the value will go up)
Like you said, we don't have crystal ball, so no one knows the future value of current car, unless you are buying a car like La Ferrari. If you aren't going to really drive ZL1 1LE like it's meant to be (on track), then your occasional drive isn't as enjoyable as, say,, regular ZL1. (drop top would be even nicer for Sunday cruise) If you are going to track it, you would't really think too much about "Future Value" of your track car. When 2008-2009 GT500KR came out, many people thought it would go up in value. 10 years have passed. No sign of price increase yet. It may start going up in next 20 years. Who knows... The point I want to make is: Buy the car you will enjoy - drive the heck out of it, and enjoy every penny you spend on it! If you don't get bored of your car for 30-40 years, and your car value goes up, Great!!! That being said, if you want to purchase a 'toy' car (and not spend a million like Enzo or LaFerrari), that has a good chance of going up in value, I think you would have a better chance with Viper ACR or GT350R. I think your V-wagon (Cadillac CTS-V wagon, right?) has a pretty good chance of going up in value in future. (If they are 6 spd, even better)
