SS 1LE Chin Spoiler PPF getting pelted by rocks

Got PPF on all my front facing surfaces soon after I got the car in April. It's holding up well but my lowest lip on my chin spoiler has taken about 5 or 6 solid rock hits and actually put small holes in my PPF.

Now I have seen the demos where you can heat up PPF if it's scratched and it will 'heal' itself, but if it's a small hole or a chip in the PPF, I think it will make things worse?

I'm thinking about just running some door edge protection along the entire front ridge of the spoiler. I guess it might look kind of dorkey, but I don't know what else to try? Has anyone else tried this or come up with a better solution?

I didn't PPF the splitter, it's satin black and not too expensive so I consider it sacrificial. I'm not surprised it gets hit hard enough to go through PPF. I'd just remove the PPF after it gets to looking too haggard.

PPF will self heal if the car just sits in the sun, but you can use a heat gun. If there are holes/chips it's probably too much to self heal.

Thanks for responding. Have you replaced one yourself yet? OEM or aftermarket? How much was it?

No, mine has some rock dings but nothing I'd replace it for yet. I think GMPP sells them? Shouldn't be too hard to find. I'd guess in the $250-350 range.

Are you all talking about the stock OEM v2 1LE Satin black splitter 84486681? A lot more than $250 unfortunately. More like $630-$700 all in.

I just got one for my non-1LE SS and was just about to asked my Expel PPF guy about it (waiting reply).

I got mine on accessories.chevrolet.com, as it had no shipping cost if sent to local dealer. Still has Tax added of course (7% for me). Other sites like shopchevyparts.com, etc, listed it as $450-ish, but then $195-200 shipping plus taxes. So the average gross cost was about $630-$700 everywhere I checked.

I probably looked into that when I got my car over 5 years ago now, lol. For that much I might replace it with real CF or something more functional.

I might try some clear or black door edging on the lip/edge just to see how it looks. Hopefully it isn't too fat and will flex on the bends nicely.

Can you not just replace the PPF on the splitter itself?

I'm not good at applying PPF, had a pro do it for this car, and that piece is a pretty odd contour to learn on. Regardless, I expect the same result in 3000 miles, anyways. All the hits are right on the front edge. If 10 mil EXPEL can't get it done, maybe door edging can?

I did see a product on ebay called "RhinoLip". seems to require complete removal of the pieces and careful application to contour and uses screws to fasten in place. I'll start with cheap/simple and work my way up.

I get that I was more thinking can you not go to place a get them to replace it? Or is it more of a cost thing?

I can see what they say, probably a good idea, but i bet they will want a minimum of $250 to do it again, and I expect it still won't hold up any better than the first application. my car only has like 2500 miles on it.

I found this:

https://www.fsperformanceengineering...edge-protector

I think I will give it a shot, better than door edge material.

My thought process, I figure in about 5 years the bottom of it will probably be trashed and need replaced. Not sure when they changed but on my 24 1LE it is installed with rivets so when it comes time to replace it will take more than removing a few screws. Same with the vinyl wrapped hood, I was gonna PPF it but the installer talked me out of it saying the money I spent with PPF in 5 or 6 years I can just have it replaced.
