The installation documentation for the wing says...

chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://ecom-dam.ext.gm.com/products/documents/ISheets_84330888.pdf

"Disclaimer: This SB3 Wing Kit is intended for use only on 2016 model and beyond Camaros that come already equipped with a 3-stanchion spoiler. Deck lids with 3-stanchion spoilers are equipped with structural reinforcement for the center stanchion not found on other deck lids. Use of this kit on any non-approved deck lid configuration is not suggested, may invalidate your warranty, and may put your vehicle in non-compliance with FMVSS regulations. "

So I am confused how a dealer installed this for you when you don't have the correct deck lid (as a result of your vehicle being an LT1), unless you bought a new deck lid as well.
I didnt know this, i never seen the installation papers as it was installed at the dealership and i have the paperwork to show that. So i guess if any issues it should be covered since they did the work?? Its solid on there

Everyone's armchair quarterbacking here without knowing how much downforce this wing makes at what speeds...

The installation document, for liability reasons, has to be written with the assumption that people will take their car to its spec'd max speed, which is 155 mph in the case of the LT1. Aerodynamic drag and downforce are proportional to velocity squared, so if OP never exceeds, say, 100 mph, the extra downforce will be negligible, and even then split 3 ways.

Also, if his trunk lid bucks under the load, he can go get the stanchion lid for the SS (part number 84568190) and transfer the wing. All in all, this is most likely a non-issue for OP.

I had a Toyota that had a dealer installed spoiler, the trunk was a rusted mess as they just drilled holes and didn't bother to prime and paint, that would be my concern.

GM's ZL1 spec spoiler also fits a ZL1 although the information on the Chevy Accessories website says its for an SS. It's actually a real ZL1 spoiler, not just a ZL1 style spoiler. I just installed a Mosaic Black one on my ZL1 yesterday replacing the Summit White one that came on my car. So not only can you add one to an SS to give you a larger spoiler you can change the color on your ZL1 if you want to add say a black spoiler like a did to match the ZL1 black trim.

Man this thread would've been valuable when I was doing research for this.

As I understand it, cars that have a spoiler from the factory have a different trunk (internally) which has extra support for the wing/spoiler. I haven't been able to peek inside the trunk of a car with this support and haven't found any pics as to what this support looks like, but i would be more than happy to share pics of my trunk which does not have the support for comparison with one that does.

The ZL1's "spoiler" is just that, a spoiler meant to help reduce lift at the rear. It even says so on Chevy's own Vehicle-Upgrades page where you can also see that the ZL1 1LE's wing does have a downforce claim attached to it. [1]

I know this is marketing material but i find it hard to believe that GM's own marketing department would've left out the downforce numbers of the ZL1's normal spoiler on their own page if it meant they could sell that as an upgrade.

The trunk lid is not moved when the top is lowwered or raised.

Another Camarokie with an SS and ZL1?.

They can't weigh much different, I hope the motors don't have so little leeway they couldn't handle that extra weight.

I'd lean more toward cost saving. GM likes their pennies.

Or drag/wind noise difference.
