Mine was right off the showroom floor, but I didn't see any more on the lot, let alone visible from the street.

Dealers should have specified performance line experts, but that said, I've dealt with "Performance" specialist at a local dealer that insisted (arrogantly) that the 5th Gen (this was two years ago) ZL1 did not have MRC - I happened to be talking to the "used" car salesman (who admitted he didn't know about the car, but showed me anyway) when this expert overheard me and interjected, so even then they don't always know what the hell they are talking about.
In a state like California, I'm sure there are a few performance oriented chevy dealers that could be easily found. Maybe the dealer you went to focuses (and it seems that way if they still have 5th gens on the lot) on the "normal" for lack of a better term...sales side of things - maybe that's their bread and butter and they don't care so much for performance sales.

Where I live when I bought mine in 2012, they were pretty rare. But after driving mine around town every day for a few months I started seeing a lot more of them.
But that pre-refresh body was really striking at the time. Some people acted like it was an exotic and I got compliments everywhere I went. I like the Vette-ish new hood but the aesthetics don't have the pop or the fresh look of the 5th gen. |

I don't blame them for pushing the 5th gen models...I would want to get rid of old inventory as fast as possible too.
the rest of your experience just sounds like a bad dealer |

I have been back there a couple of times, the last being last week and they still didn't even have one that was visible or even in the showroom. |

My dealer keeps 3 of them parked right next to the entrance. That was where I saw mine.

First of all: I agree that most Chevy dealers don't understand anything about the Camaro. However, I don't blame them. Think about how do they get paid....? Selling a Chevy for invoice (any Chevy) is Standard Operating Procedure, which means the salesman is making a "mini" = about $100 in commission. The salesman will make the same mini with a Camaro or a Cruz , or even a $12,000 Spark.
Chevy did not make the salesmen's life easy with making the Camaro's invoice price so close to the MSRP. Bottom line - why bother selling Camaros?!

It isn't about chevy... it's the same with every single brand. I've been buying performance cars for over a decade (only 30 atm) and this is what you should do. #1: Go to the sales MANAGER and not a sales guy. 99% of the time sales guys do not have a clue. They just read the sticker on the car when it comes to the lot. Of course there are exceptions which is why I said 99% haha. First guy I had to communication with buying my camaro was a guy who kept thinking I was ordering the 2016 corvette... At another dealership so I went with another dealership and a sales manager. #2: Expand your horizon, shop out of state / city if needed. You are spending a lot of money and spend it wisely.
Mbar, camaro's cost then invoice is no where near MSRP... There is a good 3 grand difference between MSRP and invoice which also depends on the dealership. |

I've been trying to get into a 2016 Camaro since they went on sale - but I can't justify the numbers. Right now the absolute best number I've been quoted is $356 per month on an 80 month loan for the 2016 Camaro 1LT 2L Turbo automatic with the $800 technology package. 80 months.
Almost all of the other dealerships are starting quotes at $400+ per month for the BASE MODEL with the $1500 automatic transmission and the $800 technology package. $400 for a base model automatic with $800 tech package is damned ridiculous. I don't even want the automatic transmission, but it appears almost all of the inventory right now is automatics. These numbers are also: - With GM Employee pricing, - With a $2,000 GM employee appreciation certificate, - With $500 lease loyalty rebate incentives. $0 down sign and drive, no negative equity, etc.

You can explore various financing options AFTER you settle on a price for the car, but trying to roll it all together at the same time is just asking to be taken for a ride by the dealership. In my opinion, anyway.

I agree that there is 3-4K between COST (not invoice) and MSRP. However, the spread between MSRP and invoice is 3-4% AKA $1000-1500. The salesmen only makes money over a "mini" if they sell for over invoice, which in the Camaro's case there's very little meat before you get to invoice.

While I agree with many posts, I also think the Mustang is available in Europe with the steering wheel on the right whereas the Camaro does not offer this.
