Fuel filler door

Guys, so I am looking at a new 2019 zl1 with the 1le package. One of the options is the fuel door that has the carbon fiber and says Camaro. My question is, is that just a cover and can it be taken off after I buy it or is it an entire door and you would have to buy a separate piece and have it painted to match. Not a big fan of the look of it but the car is local and would be easier than going out of state to buy one.

Thanks

If you order the carbon filler door it will come separate. The car is delivered with the plain filler door and is painted with the car. The dealer will install the optional door when the car is delivered to the dealer.
I have the carbon door. I kept the stock filler door that came on the car when delivered. I keep it in the box the carbon door came in.

Just reread your post. Looks like you want the factory plain door. The dealer should have that. Ask for it. IIrc it’s a simple swap.

Get the car too. You’ll love it. I can’t get enough of my ZLE. It’s winter here now.
I just put mine away for winter. Now the separation anxiety begins.

You could always have it custom painted.

It just snaps in, and is held in place by a plastic detent.

I just picked up my White 2019 ZL1 1LE. It came with the plain white door. Wish it had the black one.

As noted, if the car is ordered with the carbon fuel door, it comes LPO (dealer installed) in a separate parts order. It's VIN marked and installed on the car along with other LPO coded products like floor mats, wheel locks, etc. during PDI. The original fuel door should be kept with the vehicle.
