Brembo conversion

Was curious if there’s a certain year I need of the Chevy brembo calipers, or if 2016 will work. Asking because I’m looking at used calipers and a 2016 is the best quality one I’ve found so far. Chime in.

6th gen calipers will not work on 5th gen, since they are a whole different body and chassis. Any 5th gen SS or ZL1 caliper will work. with of course, new caliper mounting bolts, rotors, brake lines. and of course modification/replacement of the brake rotor heat shields, most prominently in the rear on the V6's. I didn't have to do anything to any shields in the fronts on my last 2 5th gens.

I can't find my file with all the part numbers- but the 5th gen SS calipers are a direct fit (change to SS hoses and rotors). There are also some Cadillac CTS and CTS-V calipers which often pop up cheaper. I used new CTS rear calipers on mine and rebuilt some early SS calipers for the front and just painted them all to match. Early front calipers had external stick-on weights, like wheel weights on the calipers which is weird as hell, so I just removed them. Later 5th gens didn't have those- but if you find some, just peel off the weights.
I wish I could find the CTS/CTS-V part numbers... crap.

I asked what those weights were awhile back and it appears there were a quick fix for brake squeal/vibration of sorts. Weird indeed but, I kept them on.

"up grading" large heavy breaks on to a car with less power and weight will increase un-sprung weight.i see drag guys upgrade or down grade to v6 rear brakes. i would leave it stock.

Back in August of this year, before the strike started, I ordered 8 front SS caliper bolts, 8 rear bolts and 16 crush washers just to have them on hand, so happy I did.
