Secondary cat delete pipes?

Anyone make a bolt in secondary cat delete pipe that works with the stock exhaust? Not wanting to weld in anything if possible. Not sure if the stock ones are welded in though. I know borla has some, but guessing it's only for Borla exhaust.

No one makes a true bolt in design, as the factory exhaust is one piece (including the secondary cats). The closest thing is the Borla 60606 mid-pipe, which can be installed with clamps and no welding is required.

Ok, but will the Borla 60606 work with the stock exhaust? The description reads like it works with the 3 inch Borla, will it clamp to the factory 2.75 piping?

The Borla 60606 is 2.75" and it will work with the factory exhaust. I think there's at least a dozen threads covering this, and even has links for the clamps that you need.

I paid a shop $100 to delete my secondary cats. With or without that kit you're still cutting the factory exhaust. Why spend $200+ extra AND have to do all the labor.

Go to an exhaust shop and play stupid. "Yes, I'd like my resonators after the cats deleted."

Because it's a bolt in affair. You could easily swap them back in if you wanted/needed to.

Not really, once you cut the OEM secondary cats out of the system you would need them welded back in if you every wanted them back.

Also most shops are not dumb enough to believe the "resonator" line, they all know that modern new cars after 2009 have 4 cats on them now.

Not if you cut it at the rear muffler. If you do that, you can re-use the same clamps to re-install the OEM mid-pipe/cats assembly.

Yes (Hans)solo, the 60606 works great when you cut the stock pipes 8" out from the your stock muffler (NPP?). Then you can always bolt the stock cats back in anytime using the same sleeve clamps. The 60606 is the same 2.75" through out as stock.

Look here- https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492077

Skip to about page 8, that's when we got his issue sorted. Note at post #104, Dave Borla promises to make a less expensive version of the 60606 and has made good on that with part #60663. Post #103 is correct about this clamp- https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vpe-1176 making it weld free with the 60606 and I believe the last post in this thread is correct that the full 60606 will be louder that just the cat delete 60663. But the '63' is half the cost.

Have fun!

You have to ask yourself, am I really ever going to put the secondary cats back on? If the answer is no you can run either system. No matter which one you pick, you will need to cut the factory exhaust to make it work. If you weld in the new pipes you will have to cut it again if you want to put the cats back on. Why GM decided that these 1 piece systems are a good idea makes no sense.

Because the EPA requires them more than likely. The cats are a federally mandated item that are not to be removed unless defective, there are fines that can affect the shop who removes them and the owner of the car if you are caught without them. Granted the federal fines are rarely if ever levied.

What does thst have to do with what I posted? I am pretty sure that by now most people understand how emissions work. The EPA will not be coming after you if you take off your secondary cats. But you may have a problem with your State laws if they require emissions testing. The testing varies by State and can be either visual or actual testing of the vehicles emissions output. In some cases some States require both forms of testing. It is up to you the consumer to know your State Laws. At no point in my post did I suggest anything about who requires primary or secondary cats on a vehicle.

What does an X-pipe give you other than a little extra sound?

If say I plan on doing a Corsa Exhaust, what would be the added benefit to also get an x-pipe at the same time, as opposed to just the Corsa by itself?
