Real benefit going from 275-305?

Have a m6 1ss with basic bolt ons and more coming. Will be looking at tires in the spring and was initially looking at 1le replicas with 305 rear and 285 from. I’m curious to people who have done that was it worth the cost in wheels and bigger tire size or would just upgrading stock size with just a better tire be close to similar results?

Being able to hold higher lateral G's in the corners is probably one of the bigger benefits.

What would the speedometer error be on the change in tire size?

Going to 1LE sizes from stock will be a 3.55% difference.

The model of tire is probably as big of a deal as the size. The 1LE tire is a lot grippier than the standard SS tire. If you just got the highest-performance summer tire for your OEM wheels, you'd probably get half or more of the benefit of changing to the full 1LE setup.

The wider wheel and tire especially in the back allows for more traction on acceleration. This is a no brainer. Plus astetically the wider tires will look much better. There will be no mistaking your car for a V6.

Based on the rear tire size difference, the speedometer would be ~1.4% off using the SS 1LE wheel/tire combo on an SS. It's the front tire that would have a ~3.6% change in rev/mile.

Nice, can that be adjusted by a tuning shop?
