Advice on range device

I've been thinking about getting a AFM range device and need some suggestions on which one to get. Dont know anything about them and I have heard some of them throw CELs. I saw RDP has a "sprint s1000" for $200 and not sure what the go to one is!
Thanks

Get the Range brand one fron their website. They will ship you the one with the newst firmware, I have an older FW one with no CELs thrown. If for some reason they come out with another newer FW, you can exchange with them formfree, or if you want a different color LED light on it, also free exchange minus shipping directly to and from the Range company.

I have one on my SS for about 8 months, no issues at all. Got it directy from Range with the latest firmware.

It will be for sale soon. I'm getting Rotofab/LT's/3" exhaust and Tune and won't need it anymore. It is the red LED one.

They are $180 from Range, I'll take $100 + shipping.

Buy directly from range technology. They will send you the latest one for your vehicle. I had mine for several months now with no issues. Highly recommend.

Yes, they will upgrade the software for only the cost of postage. I did that with the one I had on the 5.3 in my wife's Envoy. Threw codes on the Camaro. In fact, the first update didn't fix it and I put it away until they got the bugs worked out. Works fine now.

Appreciate all the information! The range technology device like others you have to unplug if the car sits for a few days right due to battery drain? Has anyone experienced bad wear and tear on their OBD port due to this? Or maybe theres a workaround I havent heard of yet.. but I will be getting one shortly! (Its pay week!!)

Use a switched harness via AMZN...many of us have:

Well that's a handy switch there. You just use some sort of double sided tap to hold it under the steering column? Guess I will be buying one of those to!
Lastly does it need to be plugged in before the car is started or does it not matter?

Battery drain was only an issue in the earlier models of the range device (check the FAQ on their website). Mine has been plugged in since I bought it and the car has sat for over a week without being started and had no issues at all. Started right up like it always does

They still drain, don’t get lulled into a false sense of security… It may drain slower, but I’t’ll still kill your battery over a month. Mounted on the harness above you have no problem.

Lol, every other electronic thing in the car will kill your battery over a month if it's not started or put on a battery tender so it's no big deal to me. Normally the most mine goes without running is about a day or so. I went on vacation for a week so it sat for about 8-9 days without starting and was fine. I'm not worried about it but to each his own.
