Bulletin covers 2016-2019 SS. As far as having anything done warranty related, because brakes are a maintenance item, they can only be warrantied within a certain time.

#18-NA-372: Front Brake Squeal/Squeak Type Noise Heard During Light Brake Apply - (Dec 11, 2018)

Equipped with BRAKE SYSTEM-POWER, FRT & RR DISC, ABS, 18", HEAVY DUTY (RPO J6G)

Some customers may comment about a squeal/squeak noise during light brake apply.

This condition may be caused by climate change.

The SS model is equipped with Brembo Performance Brakes. Brake squeak/squeal noise is a common characteristic on vehicles equipped with performance brakes. The brakes are designed for more aggressive braking to produce shorter braking distances. GM Engineering recognizes there are certain driving conditions that require a light brake apply such as stop and go traffic, drive-thru's, etc. and has investigated the frequency (MHz) at which the brake noise is produced.

Replace the front brake rotors. This correction only applies to vehicles with brake squeal/squeak noise during light brake apply. This DOES NOT apply to concerns related to worn brake pads, glazed brake pads or brake pulsation.

Note: GM Engineering has determined a higher carbon contented rotor can effectively reduce brake squeak/squeal noise during light brake apply.

Rotor #13528522

So is this definitely for 7500 miles or less? Mine does this but I am at 15k - OP said 7500 miles but I don't see anything in the bulletin specifying that.

"This condition may be caused by climate change" Is Al Gore writing these service bulletins??

Huh, I actually get this on my ZL1 1LE which has brakes unique to it amongst the models I believe? Going slowly down onramps in heavy traffic it's really bad...like a howling tone that really makes your teeth quiver.

I wonder if it's the same phenomenon? Even does it after I bedded in the brakes really well.

I notice it much more on hotter days I'm guessing that's what they mean by "climate change" lol

Does this apply to the 1LE six pistons? I'm having this problem but I know I have different rotors than the stock SS.

I bought a 1SS in March of this year, noticed faint brake squeal right away when pulling into my garage, at red lights and bank drive thru! Glad there is some discussion on this issue and a fix!

Well, I got mine in March too...would they have fixed it in the factory since the bulletin date (December)? Is this a recall or just a bulletin? Because I can't find it under a recall.

It's just a bulletin, but I wanted my fellow SS owns to be aware of this. The squealing was driving me crazy!!

HAHA! 7500 is what the service manager told me. Call your service manager and ask. Miles may vary by dealership, maybe.

Tons of climate change here in the panhandle of Florida

We get to keep the old brakes right? Im going to do this and use the new brakes the dealer gives me and when they run out, go back to my old ones. Honestly because the 6 piston brakes are expensive.
