Windshield Tint?
When my car is delivered I’m definitely getting 5% tint all around but have been debating either the “Brow” or a full windshield tint at like 70% or 45%, not sure how dark it’ll be. Curious what others have done / plan to do?

IT will be very very dark. I personally couldn't stand it.
I had 5% and the banner.... 1 week later had to take it off, and went with 15% and no front windshield. Windows on this car are much smaller than the usual car so tints look darker than what they really are. The front windshield is just too small, barely any light goes in the interior.... and it will be very odd situations that you find yourself having the sun in your eyes.... it simply doesn't happen, It feels like if you have a baseball cap on. When i had the banner I found myself constantly ducking down (since my eye sight was looking directly at the tint.... which made it very disturbing for me.... Plus I dont know how long you've had this car... but night lights arent as good as other cars (i came from a 2015 GTI with lighting package w/ auto aim) so i noticed even more.

I just recently got my tint done as well, I went with 15% all around with the Sunstrip, but I am debating taking the Sunstrip off for the exact reason that G2K said. It makes you duck and an awkward line of sight. Tiny windows make 15% look much darker. Id recommend either getting a very tiny Sunstrip (1.5-2 inches at most) or leaving the windshield alone all together

If you do the entire windshield I would not do any more than 75% personally. Im a big fan of air80. Did 35% once. Big mistake.

We've done some windshields and we recommend you stay above 50. 50 is border line but is manageable at night. If you drive at night a lot I would keep it at 75. If the rest of the windows are dark 75 on the windshield will look dark to from outside looking in. We did a car 5% all the way around and 50% on the windshield and you couldn't see in from any direction.

I did 15 all around with a tiny 2 piece sun strip due to the PDR camera. Very happy with it, other than the poor install on the rear glass that I need to have redone.

I have 5% all the way around and the windshield banner. I personally love it. Everyone that rides with me hates it and asks how I can stand it.
I don't know how to fix the picture. lol Last edited by lokitwitch04; 02-06-2019 at 11:13 AM. Reason: pic upside down |

Can't remember what our provincial limits are on this matter but there is a limit.check with your installer.or dealer service dept can tell you. They should have a light meter for doing safety inspections.

People already complain about visibility. You do that dark and you'll be in the dark, especially at night. I bought a used truck like that and couldn't see to turn in my driveway without rolling down the window so had it pulled off and did the right tint for all driving but was still plenty dark.

Not sure if HUD windshield or not, but this car bothers me driving at night more than any other in the past. Add rain and I just want to pull over glare is just BAD.
Not sure why anyone would want to make forward visibility any worse!

Air80 eliminated glare for me

At one point I had 50% on the windshield on one of my vehicles and hated it, so it came off. On the truck, I have 80% now and on the Camaro I have 65%. I would have gone with 80% on the Camaro, however they didn't have it available at the time. 65% was all they had. Personally on a performance vehicle I would not go darker than 65%. 65-80% you're doing okay.

Mark me in the old man category. I like to be able to see out of my vehicles, especially at night. That split second difference between being able to see a deer in your peripherals and not can make all the difference.
I use to like them and think they do look cool. I've had Air80 on my windshield and wouldn't do it again. If you like to wear polarized sunglasses you will get a crazy rainbow effect that looks like you're on psychedelics. You have to ask yourself if looking cool is worth sacrificing visibility (in a car that's already difficult to see out of) and an increased chance of getting pulled over by law enforcement. If you live someplace that is hot as hell then I understand it. To me tints belong in the back to keep kids and pets cool not on the windshield of a sports car. |

Just a 5% strip across the top. Feels like I'm lacking something without it.
