Question Hood latch sensor alarm issue

So I drove to work today, parked locked the doors and headed in when my horn started honking. I unlocked the doors and it quit. Made several attempts to lock my car with the same result. I got in and noticed my dash telling me the hood was unlatched. It's not. I opened and closed it several times and nothing. So I can't lock my doors. Anyone else have this issue? Will be Friday before I can take it to the dealership which I dread :/

Never heard of this happening before. Keep us updated. Very curious to see what’s causing this problem.

So your doors don't even autolock when you drive off? That's pretty much a safety feature. I would expect the doors to lock even if the hood was not fully latched.
One thing I have experienced on several vehicles is that problems with the door lock logic can be an early sign of battery failure, even if the car still starts reliably. It is probably related to voltage squat.

i got hood latch sensors triggering as well after taking it to the local mechanic. opened up the hood, cleaned the latch area with a wet rag, and no more issues.

Just to add to this thread, had the same issue. Alarm going off randomly when locked. eventually the hood open message came on. Replaced hood latch/sensor at the dealer and problem went away.

I just had this issue on our Cruze. All I did was unplug the sensor for the hood latch which is right up front by the latch. It will stop the alarm from going off and allow you to lock your doors. Guessing your car is an automatic so it's likely your remote start won't work cause it's also part of the sensor (on the Cruze it was anyways). Cost was $200 to get a new latch switch and sensor for the Cruze. Traded that car in for a new Equinox at Christmas. Good luck

The hood is not coming up, it's not the latch. The issue is the hood switch that tells you that the hood is up is defective. You replace the latch and switch assy though.

Just happened to me this past Saturday on my 2018 2ss. Onstar sent me a text and said theft deterrent system has been triggered. Went outside, nobody was near my car. To make a long story short, I could not lock my car without the alarm going off. Onstar said the front hood latch was open. Took it to the dealer and the hood latch sensor had to be replaced. Unbelievable, car only has 7,000 miles on it:(

Same thing is happening to mine since a Dyno run. Can not find the sensor on GMPARTSNOW, do you happen to have the workorder where they give the part number?
