Nitro NT555 G2 or Continental DWS06 Plus for SS 1LE
I have about 7,500 miles on my SC3 and I have a nail in the rear passenger tire that the dealer will not replace since tread is lower than their standard. I’m looking for a tire that will be good for daily driving as well as spirited driving. I’ve heard good things about both tires, but I would like to hear what experience you all have had with these tires.
Mainly I want to get a good amount of life out of my next tire since the SC3 only last around 10k miles. |

The EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS (560TW) is a very good all season tire that I have on my DD. What I put on the Camaro for street tires is the EXTREMECONTACT SPORT 02 (340TW) which is not all season which I'm ok with since I don't drive it in bad weather. It's not as big of a reduction in grip compared to the SC3s.

They especially tout its wet performance, which is mildly shocking, because I think the PS4S is already almost perfect in that department, and then the ECS 02 puts up a tangibly worse dry performance in their ratings, yet they claim it's better overall, which is again weird to see with a max performance summer tire.

I just put the Conti ExtremeContact Sport 02 in 19” on the wife’s Mustang GT and we love them. Fantastic grip but very reasonable road noise levels. Very happy with them.

I don't put much value in those consumer ratings. I want to see a head-to-head tire tests. The Michelin PS4S has been the best in the past. They are also the most expensive which is why I went with EXTREMECONTACT SPORT.
This test is not for the new 02 version https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=223 They did a test comparing the old and new 02 version. Not much difference https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=297 |

Another vote for the new Continental Extreme Sport 02 as the tire to go with. We've found they have a better ride quality in both noise and feel when compared to the Michelin 4S. Traction differences are a wash on the street.

I can only speak for the Conti's. I like them a lot. They got me through a snow storm a few years back so they get my vote.

I'm a bit torn... my PS4S tires were made in 2019 (sold in 2020), getting long in the tooth (and shallow in the tread), and it would be great to see what the competition has cooked up, but I can't afford a $2000 mistake these days (sigh)...

To answer the original question, I haven't tried the Nitto's but I have had the DWS for 2.5K miles.
Really enjoy the ride, quiet and can still hold about 0.85Gs on a dry on-ramp. Haven't tried them in the rain yet but I'm sure they'll perform great according to all the reviews online. I will be honest though, being a summer car, I might be looking at the Extreme Sports as my next tire so I can get a bit more dry performance. I do understand there is quite a price difference so I'm not sure how much of a jump in performance it'll be per $. Another + for DWS over Nitto's are they can be rotated side to side, Nitto's are directional so only way to rotate side to side is remounting them. Only complaint so far is there is very little rim protection (sidewall lip doesn't protrude over the OEM wheel rims) so when I take the wheels off and want to lay them down, I need to place them on a towel or the barrel just barely touches the concrete. |
