Snell 2000 or better helmet

If you are going to buy one get at least a 2010 or better so it will be good for a while.

2000 is good until the 2015 comes out. Then it will default to the 2005 as the oldest.

Yeah I have to disagree with those saying the SA 2000 are good. Our local SCCA groups I attend don't allow them anymore and SNELL also does not advise using them either. You should get a SA2005 or SA2010 helmet.

"Our advice to Safety Inspectors and Racing Authorities is that they continue to accept helmets in good condition and certified either to the current or immediately previous Snell standard. At this time, SA2010 is the current Snell standard and SA2005 is the immediately previous."

Well I appreciate your input. My local SCCA is running Snell 2000 until the new ones come out. See link for 2015 rule book. It shows Snell 2000 as acceptable.

OP I would at least buy a 2010 as it will continue to be good after the 2015 is released. I don't think you can even buy one older than that.

I would also like to add that CamaroCross does not adhere to SCCA rules. However they are used as guidelines

I went and picked up one a couple of weeks ago at a local motorcycle shop. It was a SA2010 and I got it on sale, it's nothing fancy, but I never race so I didn't need an expensive one.

If you don't have one I suggest buying a cheap SA2000 or borrow one. SA2015 will be available very soon.

I know what you mean, the humidity is like living in FL. We should get a break in weather today. Hopefully tonight, I will start on getting the car ready/cleaned. With work and available time, it will take a few days to get it completed.
