Mishimoto catch can and centri supercharger
Hey guys I have an ECS Paxton kit on my SS along with a Mishimoto catch can...I've had it for a year now and it just dawned on me....there's probably boost going into the catch can right? Is this OK? I'm not interested in getting another can so am I OK or am I flirting with disaster? Should I or could I put an inline check valve in? I tried doing some research but I'm a little confused.
Thanks

I just posted a similar question concerning catch cans under boost. I have no clue of how to route the catch can hoses to the new Supercharger. I'm doing an Edelbrock eForce install. I hope someone can chime in with some good advice.

I would assume in a roots blower the can wouldn't see pressure like a centrifugal would but I could be wrong

yeah if it's a PD type blower you can use the traditional style Catch can but a Centri really needs a vented catch can and a check valve so that boost doesn't enter the can and push all the oil out. MightyMouse Wild CC's are great.

Is there anything I can do with the current can that I have? ECS v didn't seem as if it was a big deal when they installed my blower last year.

Yeah a lot of shops probably don't think about it but I bet they wouldn't run a closed CC on their own car. So what you could do is pick up a one way check valve to prevent the boosted air from entering your MM catch can and then I would highly recommend a Metco Valve Cover Breather to deal with the crankcase venting. This will replace your oil filler cap https://www.jegs.com/i/Metco+Motorsp...0aAiMpEALw_wcB |

Although I am PD, I still run the Mishi catch can with a Metco valve cover breather. Boost is boost regardless if it's Centri or PD and Ideally you want to be able to vent the excess crank case pressure to atmosphere so it's not pushing on the engine seals.

Should I still run the check valve?
If I replace the oil cap with that breather it's not going to set offcheck engine light or have a vacuum leak or anything right?

The Metco breather has the check valve built into the breather. Its just a plastic disk that pops up when the engine sees boost to vent, then gets sucked closed under vacuum. Mighty mouse catch can is the same way except they place the breather on top of the catch can instead of at the valve cover. Either way they achieve the same thing.

I know that...
Again, I run the Mishimoto can with the metco valve cover breather that has the check valve built in. It achieves the same thing as the Mighty Mouse is all I am saying. Which means it works fine and no check engine lights.

Also make sure you get the Metco breather that has the check valve. https://jannettyracing.com/products/...2015-camaro-ss
