Buying new 2019 1SS or 2016 2SS

Hi guys, recently made a thread with questions about buying a new 2019 1SS.
The car is going to buy 1SS Black, auto, black wheels. I am Canadian FYI. Got my car cost report and worked out a deal $700 above invoice with the dealer for:

$46,066.50 PRE tax and APR @ 1.99% ($34,061.60 USD) 84 months
$55,500.xx total cost ($41090.26USD) all in which gives monthly payments of 665(0 down),602(5k down),538(10k down)

I was really hoping to get closer to the $500 monthly. I would prefer not to pay 10k downpayment.

Just the other day a used 2016 fully loaded red 2SS with black wheel came onto the market in my city.

2016 2SS 15,xxx KMs no accidents and service records available.
I got the guy down from 38,995.xx to 37,500.000 ($27763.69USD) over the phone. Its a used car so the rate will be 4.99%. Total amount financed 43k (31.8k USD)

I can put down 6,500 downpayment and have a monthly of $507

Basically buying new and financing an extra 13.5k total gives me a vehicle that isnt 3 years old, 10 speed auto (vs 8 in the 2016), and a longer full warranty.

Asking advice of the forum. Which one would you be more partial to? I have never financed a used vehicle, is there anything wrong with doing so? Any glaring 2016 issues I should keep an eye for if I go check it out?

Go new. Not sure why a 1SS is $41K USD. That's like MSRP. You should be closer to $35-36K or so here with discounts.

I wouldn't finance a car for 84 mos.
The A8 pre 2019 is known to have the "A8 shudder". I'd avoid it.

41k USD post tax and APR. All in total amount financed. 34k pre tax and APR

why not look for a 2017-2018 used CPO car?you would get an extended warranty and still save some money.might have a color choice too.i looked at several camaros at my local dealer and the ones that were 3 years old or older were within 2k of my year old CPO 2LT RS which only had 8,000 miles on it.adding a comparable warranty made them the same price so it was a no brainer for me.

Nothing wrong with saving some coin and avoiding the massive hit with the value dropping like a rock. Warranty wise you could always go for an extended if you are really worried about it. Personally I prefer the 2SS over the 1SS. But if you don't care about the extra features and are really worried about the warranty then go new. Otherwise, used is the way to go.

Normally i'd say the 2SS, but in this case, i'd go with the new 2019 1SS. IMO, it's a better looking car and you're getting the superior A10 tranny. Peace of mind over worrying about the A8 shudder and how those 9xxx miles were put on the car. As mentioned above though, the value hit is on you if you purchase new. Not really a problem if you plan on keeping for a while.

Cars and women, for peace of mind, i'm going with less miles!

I certainly wouldn't say the 19 is better looking but that is up to the individuals taste.

16 2SS avoid both the depreciation and the ugly stick hit.

Bruh, I said in my opinion I enjoy the 19 refresh in black.

Thanks for your contribution to the topic though.

Just got back from the dealer with the 2016 2SS. It was covered it dust, some rock chips, and smelled like a barn on the inside. Going to pass on it.

I went 19. Too many 5th gens using 16-18 headlights. A10 and upgraded infotainment system is a plus.

Not to mention the new hood. Luis' top pic really shows off the lines.

Get the 2019 SS! It’s a new car and pretty good price too and the 2016 is 3 years old with some miles as compared to no mileage on the 2019. The refresh doesn’t look that bad to me but you will have to decide which one you want to buy! Good luck and either one will be a good choice.
