Quick question - plug wires touch headers

Installing speed engineering headers and just put the plug wires on. On driver side, the second plug from the front is touching header. Third wire is about 1/8in clearance. I pushed the wire on as hard as I could but not sure it is completely seated? Any thoughts? Do I need to dimple the header? Or are there lower profile plug wires available? See picture.

Much thanks for any quick reply, in garage and using cell phone. Will post up if she runs.

Yeah... I would not run with the headers touching. Especially rubber on metal.

It's hard to see how hard they're touching. But can you maybe shave off some rubber on the plug wire?

Thanks for the quick replies. The one that is touch is just barely. I can trim some off so there is 1/8" gap or so. Does that seem acceptable?

I may check out after market.. Any recommendations?

Trim them for now... just so they're not touching

I'd trim off enough to where you're comfortable with.

There's lots of meet on the wires for sure. Trim of just what you need. A nice set of aftermarket wires look good in the engine bay and are not to expensive.

Might just be the photo, but the top wire (in the pic) looks like it is seated on the plug correctly. The other two, not so much. I'd make sure they are fully seated.

The real deal is; don't trim.....the deal is the wires go on tight if right and you can turn the wire ; and get it set just right for clearance by it never turning its self...its hard to get them on and they don't turn easy, and then if you need too down the road go on ebay and buy some cheap wire covers for like $20..... Twist it dude keep the wire clear or it will fry. To me though it looks like the base of the wires are touching the headers ;and yes you most likely have not seated them well as its tough to get them down in there..... its not just easy to get them on; start them...... then push down in hard, make sure they seated all the way down, and on my stainless power I only had to turn one wire to keep the wire itself off the header I think it was the second back on the drivers side. Granatelli zero ohms is what I use and there are comparisons on the net utubes showing them using a MSD ohm tester, but really stock should be fine....

Don't trim the wires lol y'all are crazy. Get some aftermarket wires and heat protective boots/socks and call it a day. I have the DEI titanium boots and i think Taylor wires. No complaints

Here's what I installed when I put my long tubes on. You should change the plugs too since you are in that far.

Taylor Wires

Grab a set of wires and or protective boots. Order from a site sponsor like us or another vendor. Amazon has enough money lol.

No one is saying to trim the wire.

They’re saying to trim enough off the rubber so they won’t touch anymore.
