Hopefully this is true, it sells poorly like Gen 5, they only make a few (1,801 Gen 5), then discount them $25k off MSRP a year later and I can get another new Z/28 in the $50k - $55k range!

Al Oppenheiser talks about the upcoming ZL1 1LE Suspension!
For those who might be interested. He talks about the upcoming multimatic dssv suspension on the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE. It sounds like Camaro team did a great job developing these dampers; inverted mono- tubewit, with right height and camber plates adjustability with -3.7 degree camber!! with solid mounts also.
I cannot wait to get one of these Sorry if it's a repost

Great info....although I have a feeling the interviewer was not prepared well. He seemed to not know much about Camaro's!

Now!
Orders could be entered into the system as early as the 13th...keep in mind no actual "order" is placed until GM's internal system picks up the orders in a few weeks. But you can put your name down, reserve your spot "in line" (doesn't really work that way), and hope for the best! |

I love hearing Al talk about his track cars. There's just so much attention to detail that went into them!!

Nice.
I though he had bird poop on his hat at first.....then I saw it looked like signartures. "Hey...we're making a video here...do you mind?" lol Love it... Great info. So looking forward to seeing if I can get my hands on one.

Al is pretty awesome and yeah the interviewer looked SUPER overwhelmed.
ALL SOLID SUSPENSION MOUNTING?! WOW. So I don't want a ZL1 1LE itself because of that... However, I would like a kit that would allow me to install the ZL1 1LE suspension kit into my SS 1LE with the stock (or upgraded but not solid) rubber mounts tho. I also want the dive planes (or whole front bumper), and the wheel/tire package

1.1g lateral grip, camber plates, hard mounted subframes, threaded front struts, adjustable rear stabilizer bar. Interesting Al O. said the chassis rake is used to reduce front lift. I look forward to seeing how the rake measures.
Very nice....if you're a track rat. I think what's going to surprise people that check the box just because it's the "most extreme Camaro" is they'll find that it's actually extreme and not just a marketing phrase. I'm picturing these cars being put up for sale with a couple miles on them within weeks of the first deliveries just like when the Lotus Elise came out.

Good one Bradford
Not many folks understand that GM didn't "do a great job developing these dampers" but rather it was a Canadian company called Multimatic. They did it for Z/28 and FYI they also build Ford GT supercar for Ford (vs Ford proper). They also race a few cars in various pro series. An amazing unit with locations around the globe. Also, I think I heard Al say 1.5G "all day long" which is tremendous. But he is clear this is NOT a DD. Not even close given its suspension which will excel on any track but will also rattle fillings out if street driven as a DD. Yet I would buy one in a flash if $ were no object. Lastly, I totally respect Al for telling "the truth" about something that has been my pet peeve for years: carbon brakes are really just for marketing. FINALLY!!! He has balls and tells it how it is. BRAVO! |

and Cem, thx for posting the vid - awesome!
PS Topspeed.com should come up to speed first before doing interviews. This guy looked totally out of his element discussing a track car. |
