Need advise
I'm getting ready tp purchase a ZL1 Camaro. Use mostly on weekends and some car show drives. Usually have my wife and 8 year old daughter as well. Would you get the ZL1 1LE version or stick with the ZL1? I'm probably making the purchase this Monday and would like some opinions from experience. I'm leaning towards the 1LE because of the looks and just because its so cool looking but I don't want to make a mistake.
Thanks |

You don’t want to make a mistake on what? Purchase whichever appeals to you, both great cars.

My concern was the ride for the wife and daughter not really me. I will not track it, just really like the look. I guess I wanted to know how hard the ride is on the 1le compared.

If no plans to track it then buy a regular ZL1. No need to spend more money just to have the look of a ZL1 1LE. And most important thing is which one can you afford and enjoy the most!

ZL1 is already a track car, so you can have some plans or thoughts of taking it out from time to time. If you were hardcore into tracking and wanting to improve your ZL1 time by 1 or 2 seconds on a 2 minute course, then I'd say get the 1LE version, but since you are even asking the question, I have to assume you aren't a die hard racer (and i don't mean that to sound derogatory, i'm not a racer either).
You'll be happy with the ZL1, it's completely bad ass. oh i see one of your responses. yes, ZL1 and then if you like the look so much of the ZLE, simply get the front fascia bits and the wing - DONE!

I'd never get the 1LE personally. Ride quality sucks and the front end with the wide splitters looks ugly. ZL1 all day. And it's "advice".

Given your concerns around ride quality, I'd recommend you purchase a ZL1. I went with the ZL1 1LE, but I plan to autocross often and occasionally track it. I don't think mind the ride in my 1LE (albeit, I haven't had her long!), but since you're considering your wife and daughter in this decision, I'd stick with the regular ZL1.
Another point is the tires. For street driving, you're going to want to swap out the .R compound Good Year tires for something like Pilot Sport S4's. That's an additional cost on a brand new vehicle that you wouldn't have to incur on the regular ZL1.

2019 ZL1 has the A10, so no A8 shudder problems. It's the perfect car
IMHO the wing on 1LE is too high, I personally don't like it. |

Both are sports cars, people don’t buy these cars for the ride, yes...the !lE is a bit more harsh, but really, not that bad. You would adapt to it really quick. If you purchase the ZL1, everytime you see a 1LE, you are gonna wish you had it. You did mention on more than one time, that you really liked the way it looks.

If you aren't going to track the car at all, why are you even considering a ZL1? Do not get the ZL1, and DEFINITELY do not get a ZL1-1LE. The ZL1 just on its own is a full fledged track car and it will never be the "Cruiser with the wife and kids to car shows on the weekend" car you think its going to be. If you are considering a ZL1-1LE "just because its so cool looking" that says to me, you don't know what you are getting into, and you'd be making a big mistake. These cars are meant for serious track racing and are really rather pointless unless you are regularly flogging them to death on a huge road course. People will debate this point, and say it's just a cool car and why not buy it. I think thats a load of BS. A ZL1 is not a toy or something to just drop into a dealership and bring home just because it looks "cool", although Chevrolet would have you believe that if it makes a sale.
Save 20,000 dollars, get a 2SS non-1LE. You can make it look like a ZL1 1LE later if you really want, though I'm not sure why you'd want a bunch of aero parts on a car that you are road-tripping with the wife and kids in, and not taking to the track.
