I really think GM has something else for people who are not looking for a daily driver mid engine Corvette but for those with much deeper pockets and a want for cutting edge tech, and i don't mean a twin turbo V8.
Rumor mill in the press has stories of 1,000 HP and for that expect to pay even more. Still probably way less than a Ford GT but still well North of 6 figures.

No one should be somehow hoping for a $55,000 mid engine Corvette regardless of the engine.

If this starts with an LT1/2 for $70,000;then GM is truly awesome.

these cars should be easier to buy instead of relying on dealers alone

I'm reserving judgement until I see clearer pictures with other lighting. That has a whole lot of different shapes and lines without an apparent unifying element. But, once the whole car is in view it may all make sense.

If this is legit, the design is pretty good IMO. Only gripe would be the exhaust tips, they are tiny and look out of place.

I like how they went back to split exhaust tips. I never like the "4-in-a-row-in-the-center" thing. I also like how they are smaller and understated. I don't like artificially exaggerated exhaust tips. I really hope those air vents have a functional aux radiator hidden within them, using air from those huge scoops on the side quarters.

I think the design overall looks awesome. Definitely an improvement over the C7 for me.

It’s funny because on the Corvette forums, the leaked rear pic is getting a lot of hate because “it looks to much like a Camaro!”, smh. They have a poll and it’s split almost 50% with those who like it and those who hate it, with majority reserving judgement until they see the real reveal.

There are many people hating on it because it looks "too chevrolet". Hint hint...it IS a Chevrolet! Did you somehow think it wasn't going to look like a Chevrolet? I think people wanted it to look more exotic.

Also, think about how iconic the 6th gen camaro has become, that now looking at a brand new corvette generation, the first thing you feel is "camaro". That's really saying something right there. 6th gen camaro is now a vehicle that we judge other vehicles by, in terms of how much or how little it resembles a 6th gen. That's icon status.

It will be nice to see the reveal but it's just another unaffordable car like the Porches, BMW M, Mercedes AMG, Ferrari, etc. to me. So I will for sure read about it and turn my head every time I see one in the wild but it will be a dream, just like winning the lottery.

It looks sort of like a sleeper super car. Which I think is pretty cool. I don't need it to look like the latest lambo.

To your first point, yes Chevy is producing it, but for the most part Corvette has stayed away from corporate design elements in it's life time.

To your second point, I see C7 in the rear end before I see Camaro, just like in the Camaro rear end I see C7 styling put on camaro.

I agree. There is Corvette there, I don't see much Camaro in it.
