HP increase vs traction question
Anyone here have a Vengeance Racing stage 2 package or equivalent? They say it should be worth 100hp so I guess my real question is, how driveable is 750hp or so in these cars on stock size 305 street tires? I want more power but I don't want to add so much that a street tire become completely ineffective and I'm forced to use drag radials. Just trying to find the max limit.
Thanks. |

I don't believe there is a 200 wear street tire out there that will handle 750hp from under 60mph without traction control on. Unless you road course the car put a set of the new Nitto 555r 2's on it. Seriously they are a game changer for traction without sacrificing drive-ability, stability, or mileage.

Thanks, I'm coming from a 1000hp Hellcat(892whp) so I'm aware of traction struggles. I went too far with that car though, it was meant to be an ultimate street toy but the traction became non-existent without a Mickey Thomson ET Street R drag radial. The Nitto 555R2s couldn't handle that much power either. I'm trying to avoid going that far with this car. I'm adding 100hp and I think that may be it. I'm tempted to go further but don't want to go too far again. |

I wouldn't base anything off of your Hellcat. I have a Whipple 6th gen, My brother has a C7Z and a Hellcat both modded. The GM cars seem to hook easier then the Mopars.
I am sitting around the 700whp mark and can pull 1.7-1.8 60fts on the street(According to Dragy) with the original 305/35/20 555r. ZL1's are a little more aggressively gear'd then the SS A8's so they can be harder to launch. I would suggest a taller tire to help that. Either way I think you will find it a little easier to get traction with the Z compared to your prior HC.

I think people have tried the 305 or 315 R888R but might have to have a spacer you can see Lethal Camaro's video and the guy from drag times he has a Mclaren that runs the r888r a kicks everyone's ass only seen him loose to a porche 918 spider. that tire literally gives you cornering and straight line performances which is really hard to come by. I'm in the same boat I don't want to run a drag tire as well, it takes the fun out of going around turns fast and is so dangerous roll racing if you have to react quick the side walls just bleed over to much to change lanes at 100 plus mph. 345s been amazing at 1000 rwhp

Thanks, I've heard the ZL1 hooks better on street tires than the HC. That being said, there's still a limit, I'm just trying to find out what that limit is without going too far. |

The R888s are very noisy though and terrible in the rain and this car is a daily driver. I am considering a 20x12 rear wheel but probably going with a 325/25/20 tire so that its close to the stock height of the 285/30/20 front tire. I don't want to drop down to a 19" wheel if possible. |

Can't really complain about the NT555RII's. Quiet, generally just fine in the wet, ride smooth, and hook good in my M6 car.

Breaking loose at 60mph, tc and stabilitrak come on. This is with an a10 just mashing the peddle and dropping to 3rd. It’s cooler here now, in the 60’s and 70’s so I’m Sure that doesn’t help. I have the stock Goodyear’s. |
