Wanted to update with my cam specs.

LT1-LT4 SMOOTH IDLE BLOWER CAM, 218/226. .635/.635, 116 LSA 110 +32% FUEL LOBE

Also, it sounds like JRE is going to hook me up with the Johnson lifters. So, that's encouraging.

so the lobe will need to be shimmed in, lots of right ups on that.

You'll like that cam. I've been running it, with ls7 lifters, for the past 18 months or so. It pulls hard deep into the 6000's. I usually shift at 68 - 6900. It's very stealthy too, idles almost like stock.
Ted has done nearly every cam/Pump combination and the shim he tells you to use will likely be spot on. I checked mine just to be sure, and Ted's recommendation was perfect.

The shim should already be in. Guess I just need to check and make sure.

Given that your motor has already been running, albeit with a collapsed lifter, your pump is probably shimmed correctly.

You can look at the shim, if there are no grind marks on it, I HIGHLY doubt it was done.

I contacted my installer and the shim was included in the kit and he installed it. I should be good.

The shim needs to be ground down, you can't just put it on. No grinds = BAD

if google tells me right those want a tight lash because of the S designation?

..and made in America with American steel they cant be that bad.

Texas speed makes/grinds there own cams and has a spin tron thats like 2 millions dollars worth of equipment right there. I would still call them and ask some questions. They must know something or they blew alotta money for nothing.

It's quite possible the Top Line lifters weren't the true source ofbthe problem. The problem is that Texas Speed provided them.as a substitute to JRE in place of the standard LS7 lifters provided in the kit that were never tested and verified. If those Top Line lifters have a tight tolerance, they should never be used as a substitute for lifters that have loose tolerance requirements. Namely, because the preload will be different, thus the pushrods supplied won't work. Therefore, the kit JRE provided, was going to fail regardless, simply because they had a different lifter than what they normally provide.

The more I'm thinking about this, the more pissed I'm getting.

Did you see what preload they were installed at vs the manufacturer spec?

Top line Hy-lift are the same thing as the Hy-lift Johnson I mentioned earlier. They are made in Muskegon, Michigan. From what I see the call for .030 preload (2148se)depending on which version you received. IF you have the actual part number I could find more info.

No, I have no idea. Whatever the pushrods that came with the kit is what was used. And I don't know what length those were.
