The Age old Question of R888R
Bought some Apex Arc-8s. Going to go 325 in the back. For this season and maybe next till I can justify getting an actual drag pack, I want to put r888rs on the rims. I plan to do some road coursing/autocross and street stuff.
I know they are noisy. If I run the r888rs in the back. Is there another option I should run in the front besides r888r to cut down the noise but be a great cornering tire? Running 305s in the front. 2017 ZL1 and puts down around 670 to wheels. Thanks! |

Im actually in the same situation as you. Similar horsepower and plans. I've been toying around with the idea of 305 NT01s up front and R888R 325 out back. I would have went NT01s all around but I really want a Y rated tire on this car so I can have more than enough headroom on any track. Only the NT01 305/30/19 is Y rated for my sizes.
Could we get some more input on this from other members? I'm fairly certain it wouldn't be a problem on the street or even rolls/digs. I think it'd be more of a problem when it comes to handling while autocross and road coursing. I hear the R888R only lasts a few laps on track days while the NT01s go a lot longer. Considering the front tires get worn faster on track days, I'm thinking this setup -might- be viable? |

ended up getting a deal on rear r888rs. I understand they wont last, But I bet I dont hit a track day for a year or two with kids so young so for the street it will do okay.
Still need to decide on the front. I also looked at the NT01s. or do you just get cup 2s? |

Update on this. Honestly looking at the Kumho Ecsta v730s. It will get me through a season and they are cheap.

Personally, for what you'd spend on the R888Rs, I'd just get a dedicated sticky tire and use street tires otherwise...
