They did just make you an offer. A new engine. That's it. It's time to start getting aggressive. Please do yourself a favor and contact a lemon law attorney. They are going to screw you.

If they tell me the offer is the new engine and they are not buying the car back, that's exactly what I plan to do. They have not made an official offer as of yet and the reason is the car needs to be repaired first. I'm getting the feeling from them and the owner of the dealership that I will be getting a new car and compensated for this whole fiasco, but I have to wait and see. I have 24 months, and the car is not compiling miles so it will stay at 1900. Dealer has supplied me with a loaner for as long as I need it. I plan to wait it out at this point and see what the offer is.

The car doesn't need to be repaired for lemon law......just fyi....the engine is the offer. I would highly advise you to contact an attorney ASAP.

Yep, I realize if I went lemon law they would not need to repair it. I have to at least hear their official offer first. Thank you though....appreciate the advice....

Latest update: Placed a tentative order today for my replacement, but may be cancelled. Dealer and GM are still working out the details on who is paying for what, and how much each will contribute to the new vehicle. Either GM is buying it back or dealer is trading me out, but has not been decided yet. That is between dealer and GM. Purchasing something already built on a dealer lot is still a possibility, which includes either a 2SS or ZL1. I gave the dealer several VIN's of '19's I would take. Final decision will come late next week or week after depending on how monies shake out and date the new engine is installed. Engine was ordered and is on it's way. Resolution before Christmas....

Hang in there Riverside. Sounds like they are trying to get the situation resolved for you. Seems you are taking advice and remaining calm and civil about it. You know you are dealing with a very large corporation and can sometimes be difficult but IMO they will take care of you.

Latest update from today.....They are trading me out of the vehicle and into another 2019 Camaro. They are giving me the exact price I paid and can now either find one already built, or re-order. Basically swapping one for the other. THANK GOD IT'S OVER!!! It's not a buy back, but an even trade. GM is still going to put the new motor in the car and I'm assuming my dealer will be selling it as a used car. Good luck to the new owner is all I can say. I hope the car is trouble free for them. I'm sure it will be listed for a good selling price.

So my dealer installed the new engine in the car and it was ready to go today. I was a bit shocked when they said they were going to give the car back to me to drive until they either find one or place an order for my new replacement. I didn't ask why, but I'm assuming it's so they don't have to pay for a rental for me for potentially 8-10 weeks. I just think it's quite ironic. The paperwork involved with the assisted trade out takes 2-3 weeks to process, so I will not have the car until after the holiday season is over anyway. Hoping nothing else goes wrong while I have it!! At least I won't be putting miles on my own for awhile but still get to drive a Camaro.....

2SS. Looking like I will be ordering. My dealer cannot get any dealers within 1000 miles to give one up. He needs to confirm with the dealer rep that it's ok to order. Otherwise, I will need to contact a dealer myself and have the dealer rep be the middle man. This does not count for my salesman as a purchase due to the way GM is replacing my car, so he won't get credit for a sale anyway. Yes, my dealer is going above and beyond to try and make things right. GM on the other hand is not...I've learned a lot about GM and the way they treat their dealers and customers thru all this. Definitely a bitter taste left in my mouth over the whole situation.

Thank you to the OP for taking us on this journey and being calm and explaining everything to us out here in the field who are potential buyers and owners. Shame on the flamers that take GM’s side over a fellow member. I noticed how nobody came back and admitted they were wrong or apologized for accusing you of lying and making fun of you for no reason other than you had problems with your Camaro when you were trying to be honest and explain it to us. These kind of idiots never take responsibility for the things they say , they only want everybody else to take responsibility for what they say. Sick world.

All I can say is I'm glad the OP got taken care of! However, with everyone wanting more and more technology built into cars...get ready for many more of these sorts of situations. There's a reason why in military aviation we have an army of avionics technicians within every aviation unit. It would simply amaze people the amount of flights and troubleshooting that goes into finding problems within complex systems...it's the nature of the beast I'm afraid and the average Joe doesn't fully understand the ramifications of building these technologies into cars.

My intention was to let people know what to expect if they ever run into the same situation. Shit happens.....I get that, but it also shows you can and need to stand up for yourself and not let GM push you around. We as consumers are responsible for the companies continued existence...sometimes companies need that reminder. The replacement has been ordered. I'll be hanging out in Becky's ordering thread to track progress. Hoping I am done having to post new threads for any more Camaro issues!!
