Can I just point out how absolutely stupid the controversy behind this ad is?

It's a Cadillac. You're not supposed to be able to afford one until you're making close to six figures a year or have saved up enough to buy one.

Yeah, I don't understand how anybody can complain about the price of a Cadillac. It's obvious who GM is targeting with Cadillacs lately.

I, for one, am glad Cadillac isn't going the direction Mercedes is with the CLA-class. That thing was designed for one purpose only: chasing volume. The side effect? It cheapens the brand. It's not that impressive to say, "I own a Mercedes Benz" when you only paid $29,900 for it.

Some people might find that stance elitist or snobbish, but the truth hurts. Luxury car brands shouldn't be affordable to everyone and their mother.

I saw a bunch of CLA's in person at a dealership great looking and very nice interior. If i were to guess its price from appearance only I would heave guessed 44 to start up to 60 loaded out. I didn't drive it so that may be where the price shows up.

Next-gen Volt reportedly due next year.

Dealer-sourced rumors of 8 speed transmission for Escalade Platinum in September.

Interesting suggestion. Tahoe RS or Tahoe SS.

An RS would be ... odd, throwing a few cosmetic touches onto an SUV to make it look sporty while retaining the performance of a stock SUV. Might work if they gave it the 6.2 though. A Tahoe SS would need an LT4 or other forced induction mill, the regular 6.2 isn't really enough oomph for a ~5500 lb truck to be considered a Super Sport. Added bonus of such a Tahoe SS: that would make for an interesting Escalade-V

Looks pretty nice, but I sure would hate to see the price...especially if its only available on an already nearly loaded model. 80K???

OUCH.

That would be an expensive Tahoe. The new Tahoes are already expensive enough.

Yes it would, and yes they are. The more something is supposed to do, the more it costs. Want something that can move big things? You can get a V6 Silverado pretty cheap. Want it to have enough power to get out of its own way when loaded? The V8 costs extra. Want all that and be able seat your family in comfort? Tahoes cost extra. All that and want it to be deserving of a Super Sport badge? Extra.

Personally, I'd much rather see something be awesome yet expensive than mundane but cheap. Awesome and cheap tends not to happen very much (discount pizza being the main exception).

True but I think they are getting very close to pricing them self's into the low volume market. But that may be on purpose do to the continuing C.A.F.E. standard increases. Make more money per car and sell fewer low MPG vehicles so they can help there fleet Avg MPG's go up.
