If you're going to daily it a lot then just get the ZL1. The ZLE wing is an option for the ZL1, and the bumper is easily added on for less than a couple grand.

The ride quality/damping of NOT adjustable on the ZLE. The alignment settings and ride height are adjustable, but the damping is NOT.

Meaning the ZLE rider is harsher all the time, not just dependent on setting. Doesn’t bother some people, does bother others. Follow your own preferences for ride quality if buying for street use.

The ZLE isnt harsh but it is firm and will transmit more feel from the road. However it is more "bouncy" at normal speeds. You feel like you're in constant motion unless the pavement is smooth. If its a weekend/fun car get the ZLE. If its a road trip/daily car get the ZL1.

I traded a 2017 2SS for a 2019 ZLE 1LE. Mine is not a DD. The ride is stiff but not bad at all. You will feel some bumps. Most of the roads in this area are in good shape, so I love driving mine. I am very happy with my purchase.

From the way you described how you would be using the car, just get the ‘regular’ ZL1, w/out the 1LE package. There really isn’t any reason to get the 1LE just for street use. The ride harshness is so subjective, it’s hard to say what you would think of it. I don’t think it’s ‘that’ harsh.. but then again, it’s certainly not Cadillac plush. It’ll throw you around inside the car if the road isn’t great. Especially at higher speeds.

I have had both ZL1 and the 1LE (current car) and the ZL1 is what I would want if I was worried about the ride quality.
I have hit my head on the roof (6'2) in the 1LE commute to work where I didn't have that same issue in the ZL1 when encountering a pretty good dip on the freeway (405) |

I have the 1LE and have had the opportunity to drive the ZL1. big difference in the ride. If you are only doing occasional track days go with ZL1. If you planned to become a track rat - go with the 1LE. I went with 1LE as I do about 15 weekends a year.

I have had both as well and if I have a cup of coffee on my commute in the ZLE my hand better be resting over the top to cover the hole in the lid. Road conditions where you live make a big difference and we have pretty good roads in my area, but if I didn't have this car mainly for track I would get the regular ZL1. |

With the notes thrown out by the op (older, not tracking, softer ride) it's a no brainer. ZL1.

I have owned a ZL1 and a ZLE. In my experience of owning both, I wouldn't spend the extra money for the ZLE unless you will track it regularly. The biggest downside to the ZLE, in my opinion, is the resale value. The 1le package doesn't seem to add anything to the value of these cars when you sell them, so unless you are going to use the ZLE for what it was designed for, you are better off taking that extra money and investing it in engine mods.

This is great discussion. Does the ZL1 1LE have the snow/wet mode? I'm deciding on an upgrade from my '17 SS 1LE. I live in Iowa and run snow tires four months of the year. I'm hoping the 18" snow tires would transfer. The ZL1 1LE is attractive to me at ~12 track days a year.
