I elected to go with the GM intake but haven't driven the car yet. It's better sealed up than the Roto-Fab. The Roto-Fab, though, does have the seal along the top but I don't know how well it's actually sealed to the hood. The more open an intake is the more likely it'll pull some warmer air in from the engine, obviously not good for power. When dyno runs are done it's generally with the hood open, so the negative of an open intake is masked. Quarter mile time would be a better measure. I also like that the GM one doesn't take up nearly as much space, much cleaner looking.

Same questions came up on the corvette forum with mods. Look at the manufacturers claims....Are they flat out lieing ?
The truth is in a before dyno and after with the install. With all corrections in the dyno #s. I believe there is a 20 or so hp increase ...

Just a quick update I did install the rotofab dry setup
Still waiting on the corsa npp
1- mpg improved slightly
2- improved power mainly in the mid range
3- tip in is not as sharp as before leads me to believe a tune would help
4- I feel as if torque management is more active keeping the wheels from spinning
5- the power the car is making is now subject to weather, for example if it’s hot the car feels more down on power then it would of been if it had the stock air box. Now this is my opinion with no solid evidence. However I know the car very well so I’m basing it off my experience.

Hopefully the corsa exhaust comes in soon to finish up this little build.

In Berwyn and I can donate my time for this if you guys are up for it. All I have is the intake.

I doubt a real world, hood closed, on the highway, 20 HP increase from a CAI on a stock engine.

I did the dry Roto Fab and Mamo throttle body right after I got the car 12/2017. In my opinion it felt like a nice gain initially but after a few days I think it mostly went away. I figured the mods probably leaned it out a bit thus more power but after the computer sensed it, it made adjustments. I think the only way to keep the gains is to also do a tune. I didn't want to do that. I like the looks of it and it does give more blower wine. Any additional power that stayed is probably from the Mamo throttle body

I'm going stock airbox with green filter, like it so far. Prefer sealed box, expect slight pressurization effect on the highway

This is what I have after removing my rotofab. Car runs better for me. I would get a dip in power in 3rd gear high rpm. I assume it was knock. Miss the sound though.

I totally agree with you on that one. I know a few E46 M3 guys that have paid 2K or more for the carbon fiber CSL style airbox. The box doesn't add a lot of HP, but looks a lot better than stock. However it does bring out the intoxicating intake sound of that 3.2 straight six very well.

Anyone else notice this dip? I'm getting suckered in for "more whine" but I don't want to do it at any risk of negative impact to drivability per the OP's question.

There’s no dip in power in mine in any gear with the Rotofab.

Opinions on the RF are all over the map - most people who own it of course will defend it. Several people who track the car don't like it. I haven't seen a dyno vs green filter/stock box but expect most of the power gains are associated with deleting the higher pressure drop stock filter, that thing is fat.

Increased particulate with an aftermarket intake hasn't really been assessed that I can see, no one seems to care

I didn’t defend anything “because I own it”. I provided video of a full throttle pull in 3rd gear to near redline. Anyone with eyes and ears can see and hear that there’s no dip or knock present. That’s called a factual response as opposed to an anecdotal opinion.

As the video further shows, I track the car. I don’t dislike it.

We've built a lot of big powered cars with Roto-fabs. None of them have power dips thats for sure. We have several cars running this intake with over 900rwhp right now and a couple pushing 1000rwhp
