Decent number of Camaros on lots

Looking at the value of my current Camaro, about $35,000, prompted me to do a search for a new Camaro, just to see what's out there. I was pleasantly surprised to find 20 within a 200 mile radius that cleared my filter. SS or ZL1, manual, duel mode exhaust, and HUD. I got 20 hits. Ranging from a low of $44k for a 1SS to a high of $80k for a ZL1, with a nice ZL1 in the middle for $69k. I figure OTD on that one is probably about $74k.

Kind of tempting to to drop $39k and get a new ZL1. I hate to give up the 1LE package though.

Seems like there are a decent number out there if you're willing to travel a bit.

Regular ZL1 basically has the SS 1LE package.

DON'T! IMO you currently own the best 6th Gen made. Early nose and tail lights, great color combo and good year for the LT1 engine. Sure the ZL1 is a great machine with the LT4 and all of that HP but FWIW in my area I see several ZL1s on the street. I rarely see an SS 1LE. Definitely my "maybe someday" track car.

Did you check to see if any of the 20 were actually available? Most likely all of them are spoken for. Try asking and you will get many many rejections. These cars you see are not really available to actually buy.

I know this, because I have sent out so many "availability" emails to dealers with hardly much success. I even increased my search on the chevy website to 2000 miles looking for a manual ZL1. My experience is pretty much all of the "in transit" Camaros are all spoken for. I gave up even emailing on them. The ones to look for are the ones that don't say in transit, meaning they hit the dealers lot. Then when you email about their availability, pretty much all of them are taken.

I lucked out on a ZL1 just hit the dealers lot, a guy that ordered it had to cancel due to funding issues. That happened on a Friday Saturday time frame. Sent an email inquiring about it Sunday (closed) and got a call Monday morning and immediately gave a deposit. Just picked it up and drove 1,330 miles from South Dakota to Charlotte, NC.

Before the ZL1 search, I had two 2SS 1LEs on order and they are produced but going thru parts and shipping issues. Actually don't even try the chevy website for a 2SS 1LE, because they are ALL spoken for due to their lower price point and demand. In reality a ZL1 is easier to obtain. Many dealers confirmed that as well.

Good luck, I would definitely start looking for a ZL1. It is truly a special machine.

I agree with ariZona28, keep it, you have a cool car. Its interesting
To see so many users dump their cars for the next model. You see
It in the profiles. They have a 2021, then a 22, then a 23, then ordered
A 24. Its almost like an obsession. But after 24 its over. Will they
Move on to vettes. I think its the same there with the c8's, there
Is a flood of used ones.

Do not ask me. At this point I would never go back to LT1.

Go for it , get a ZL1 with if you can or WO the 1LE , you will enjoy it way over the standard SS package cars . Enjoy your new ZL1 and Happy Motoring.

I would wager that the majority of those cars are not available, particularly a zl1 with the 6 speed. There aren’t many listed as is and there are even fewer actually “available”. I know because I spent weeks locating 2SS’s and ZL1’s. Many glimmers of hope end up to be a dead end, because you were looking at someone else’s car from the start.

The $69k ZL1 is available. My preference would be a ZL1 1LE, but I’m not finding one. If I hadn’t just bought my wife a car I might consider keeping my SS and adding the ZL1, but that takes us to six vehicles and parking will be an issue.

Then i do. This forum is for the wealthy. I have a perfect
Driving record ,55 yo and carry 100000/300000 on my insurance and
Pay $2000 a year on any of my cars. So at 6 cars plus
A zl1 paymant at $1200 mo that puts it at $26k a year.
I need a better paying job to pay foy my toys.
