Ported zl1 throttle body on SS

Sold my 2017 zl1 a couple years ago and just picked up a SS 1LE, I have a ported Tony Mamo zl1 throttle body sitting in a box from my old car. Does anyone know if this will work on my SS or will it need a tune. Trying to decide if I should sell it or use it. Thanks

not specific experience, but with just general experience: Anything you add to your SS without a tune will have nominal gains, if any. A tune will be needed to unlock any expected gains for any bolt-on upgrade. Also, if you upgrade your throttle body without upgrading any other parts of the intake side of your engine, the results, with or without a tune, will most likely barely be noticeable.

i would sell it. Not worth the time and effort for the issues, since these tb's are gimmicky with electronics. By the way, how do you like the ss 1le over the zl1. Do you miss the extra power?, do you like the ss 1le more?, do you enjoy the simplicity of the 1le more?

I’m quite happy with the 1 Le , car is very balanced and I don’t feel like there is a 20,000 dollar performance gap between it and the Z . That said the zL1 was an amazing car but for the street I don’t see that much of a difference.

I hear ya, I was mainly wondering if they were different throttle bodies all together, or if anyone has had any luck with one or if they just port the SS throttle body.

Ive used the stock TB, a mamo V2, and the Soler. There is next to no difference with any of them, and my car is tuned.

Will it work without tuning yes. Should you ideally tune for it yes...without tuning your idle timing will likely drop really low. The Larger throttle body changes how far open the blade needs to be in order to idle. Since these ECU controllers are torque base, the ECU will pull torque which lowers timing in order to hit target idle speed.
