Shift transition should be smooth. If it's not, your timing is off. I can't believe how many drivers I've driven with who simply can't shift to safe their life. if your passengers' heads are jerking back and forth like crazy between shifts, you're doing it wrong. Like mentioned already, highway cruising in 6th is fine, and bogging will occur at a lower rpm than what you're used to, so you have a lot of leeway. If you need more passing speed, simply downshift. |

Mine has the two position throttle on it. It’s more like an “on / off” switch. “Off” just sitting there. “On” and you better hold onto something !!!!

Admittedly I've been enjoying the ever living crap out of my 2SS...I do need to stop accelerating so much... I just love listening to her sing though.

Congrats on the new SS. You'll love rowing the gears with it.
You don't have to rev V8's , especially one that is 6.2L, to get a good around town driving experience. I chug around at 1000 rpm all the time, as long as I am not using a lot of throttle. During moderate acceleration, I might go to 1500 or 2000 rpm. You'll know if you are lugging it too much. You'll hear that same vibration you get with 4 cylinder engines when they are at too low an RPM for the load. |

I have a 2SS M6
I had to get use to the 6-speed and the IRS. The 6-speed gave me the two overdrives, but I had to think about the shifter gate for gears 3 and 4. On the four speed cars those gears were over on the right instead of center. And I made a couple of missed shifts. the other thing was the IRS vs live axle. These cars don't turkey walk. They will squat down. When you are in a left hand turn (like left turn lane) and do the 1 - 2 upshift and and lay in throttle, the live axle cars would hop and turkey walk to the right. A lot of fun. With the IRS the back end sqwats down and the car will fish tail a little, but really grab the road more. Awesome. The motor has a lot of torque Getting on the freeway, long ramp and in third gear and throttle can break the tires lose. This has surprised me (at first) and it surprises the passenger as well. KickAss############. 6th gear on the freeway I only use 6th gear on the freeway 65 or better. Downshift to fifth for passing or 4 forth to blow by everybody else and scare passenger. Downshifting Use the Rev Match. A lot of guys don't like it. But these drive by wire cars are not like carbonated cars. Blipping the throttle doesn't work right. You have to anticipate ahead a little bit. The rev match works very well and makes for quick down shifting, like coming up to a stop light and downshift 3-2-1. Much fun |

Sorry I drive a8s and a10s only advice I can give you don't have to accelerate as hard.

I was actually looking at the GT350, because it is rev happy, with a high limit. I couldn't justify the 15k difference (for a used GT350)... and I didn't fit when I tried it on. I am 6'7" - 260ish. The Camaro fits like a glove, and I am very happy with my choice!!!

The SS is a very exceptional handling car. It is easy to correct when things get a little bit loose.
That said, it also has a lot of power, and needs to be respected. I would recommend finding a safe place to test out it's capabilities, a place where you can get a little sideways and it won't hurt you. If there's a track near you, go there, and get comfortable with it. |

Turning on to an onramp, I punched it to pass a car doing 20mph who's driver was texting. I fishtailed and recovered but got uncomfortably close to his car. And I really didn't punch it that hard. Admittedly dumb and lesson learned. I was reminded that this isn't my 260 hp FWD I was used to driving. |

********* YUP! When I picked up my SS (A8) the doggone thing on the toll road was clipping along at 80, and in V4 mode. What I notice so far, a good pull away from traffic in general that won't draw attention from bears with a kodak will show the thing loping along at around 1200rpm -50mph or so, dropping to V4 every so often. Hardly ever reaching 2000 while accelerating. This fits in with the old school mantra, there's no substitute for CID Cubic inches is where the real "power" is at, not much sense going above the max torque point. |

Since this was my first high powered, high torque V8 I've ever owned, I took my time going slow and easy for the break in period not just for the break in but also so I could get used to the car before I let it rip. The history of Camaros going back to 1967 is littered with people who let it rip without knowing or understanding the handling and the power and end up wraping it around a tree or telephone pole. Start slow and gradually go a little bit harder. You'll be rewarded with a permanent grin every time you get in the driver's seat
