I pre-purchased my car and went round and round getting OnStar activated. I told the salesman he'd probably be told no a few times before he got someone to do it. It took him 24 minutes on the phone but he got it done. The bad news is the car hasn't moved in so long it's asleep and I can't track it or even see how many miles or on it until its started up again.

Its been five days. My understanding is after the car sits for a few days (? how many) that it goes to sleep and won't accept any commands or be trackable until it's started again.

Its been 5 days since OnStar was activated. I'm assuming the car hasn't moved in 10 days so its asleep. To the best of my knowledge my car is "shipped" (down the street probably). If it's not sitting on a train when they start it to load the car I should be in business. The ETA on the invoice was 12/2 which I'm starting to doubt.

This is a different car than the one I originally ordered which was a 10/12 car. This is a dealer stock car that was build on 10/28.

How long ago did you download the app, mu understanding is 24hrs after downloading app and 24 hrs after registering online. Mine currently works, i did nothing but fill out an online account, pay 3.99/month for family link and i have no problems.

The car will go into sleep mode if not started for 10 days and you can't communicate with it until its started again. I added it to my other car and 24 hours later it was working like a champ. If/when my car gets loaded onto a train if it's not already I'll should be able to track it then.

If you pay 3.99 for family link the connection stays on all the time. I think it was worth it for the next month until it arrives.

The car was asleep before it could be caffeinated then because it's not awake right now.

Could this possibly drain the battery?

Battery drain? Yes. Sleep mode is a way to not destroy the battery.

Just ask Drake Hemmiger.
