Easily fixed on a 1SS by adding a quality pair of 6x9's to the rear deck and a amplifier. I did mine for under 400.00 and it sounds great...better then the Bose because the rear 6x9 in the Bose are bass only and still rely on the rear sail speakers for mids and highs(which are totally worthless)... so the sound remains biased to the front.

The only thing I missed from the 2SS was the leather seats and knee pads. I found factory 2SS seat covers and switched them out along with the knee pads...

All that being said the 1SS is the best deal of all the 6th gen Camaros bang vs buck imo. If you just want a straight line race car then the LT1 may be slightly better, but I still feel the oil, trans(mainly this one), and diff coolers are worth having and you don't get those on the LT1. The SS front fascia still looks better imo as well but I do like the LT1.

And with a good tune it will be lighter and faster than a real ZL1. Now that is a bargain. Did I just talk myself into switching from a 2020 LT1 into a 1SS 1LE? LOL Choices. I would miss the Bose and have to have a sunroof so not many of those around.
If I were you and didn't already have my Camaro, I'd just get a 2018 2SS 1LE on the cheeeep, add the Maggie plus the supporting mods and call it a day, it's practically a ZL1 plus 20 hp minus 100 lbs, with all the nice gizmos and interior features.

Personally I'm not a manual trans fan here in this darn NJ traffic, but that shouldn't deter the most staunch and dedicated

Been there done that! LOL. It was a really fun car, but I missed a manual too much. Banging the gears with NLS makes me smile. The ZL1 is one of the best performance bargains on the planet except for the new C8. But I have to say the ZL1 10 speed was badass and really works with you if you want to play. I loved it and was sad to part with it.

The LT1 has all I need and it is easy to make the LT1 as fast as a ZL1 if I want. So the LT1 is a blank canvas with really good bones. And after having so many Camaros with spoilers all over the place I can appreciate the LT1 clean look that really shows just how beautiful all gen 6 Camaros are.

The one thing I will not miss on the ZL1 is the splitter. It took me only two days of ownership to put a nice scratch on it. Ouch!!

Yes most definitely on the potential of the LT-1! Yeah the day I bought my ZL1 I scraped a parking space concrete header at a gas station/McDonalds pulling up too far and when hearing the front splitter scrub I had a lump in my throat. Checked it though and it wasn’t as bad as I thought! After owning my 2016 2SS I wasn’t used to having that front splitter and I still catch myself being extra careful pulling into parking spaces especially those with those concrete headers/stops!

Are there good reasons to pay the extra for the SS vs the LT1? The car would be a daily except in winter. My commute is about 60 miles per day. I know the LT1 doesn't come with the extra coolers and rear Brembo's, but is that really that big of a deal? I also know the LT1 includes all season tires that I might extend the driving a little while until the snow actually hits the ground. I have no plans to race the car and just want something fun to drive daily. I saw the LT1 in person and have no issues with the looks vs an SS so looks are not a selling point to me. I also assume there are going to be some smoking deals on the 19's (heck a couple of dealers still have new 18's here) so was wondering if I might be ahead just to get a 19 SS for the same or less money than ordering a 2020. Basically I was going to order a LT1 with 10 speed auto, NPP and a rear spoiler. I am on the fence about adding Recaros to it. If I went with an SS, I would just want a 1SS with NPP and the 10 speed auto. Not interested in a 2SS.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.
If you're not going to track it, don't waste your money on a SS.

Biggest problem I had with the LT1 I was in was the sound system is pretty crap by today's standards. You can find spoilers on ebay for under $100 but the NPP option may make it hard to find the right deal on the LT1. The stock exhaust is pretty damn loud on a cold start(even on the V6) so I see the value in having it.

You can get the Bose. But in the national search I only found one with Bose and of course that was an A10. About 10% had NPP a must have for me. No LTs on this car unless I get bored in a few years.

Please give me more details! I really would like to upgrade the sound in my 1SS. I saw tat the rear deck has a place for speakers, but I have no idea what to do, how to wire, what amp, etc. Could you PM me with some of the details?

Cool thread! Thanks.

If I go with a 1SS I will definitly do this. That sub thump connector is very cool but only works on the base sound system. This fixes the sound but for me but I still like the bigger screen you get with the Bose. Do you get that with the SS/1LE?

Agreed about the Bose defficiencies. But for me it is just good enough. What is funny if you wear loose pants you can get them flapping with those door speakers. This may be why I am hard of hearing now......

As far as I know the 8 inch screen is standard on all SS models. So I would imagine it is also standard with the 1LE package.

True all SS models have the 8" screen but 1LE is different being it doesn't have a amp in the trunk to piggy back off of for signal. The 1SS is the easiest model to add amp with speakers and/ or subs.
